SOURCE: Aprilaire 600 only operates in test mode...
Well I fixed my problem. It was my fault. I was using installation instructions that I printed from the web, they were for a model 600. The model 600A has a different control and wiring. The model 600 required only one 24V power supply to the R & C terminals. I ran the furnace accesssory power (110v) to the supplied transformer and then to the R & C as required by the model 600. But on the 600A this must be run to the W/G & Cf pair and a seperate continuously powered 24V must be connected to the R&C pair. I bought another transformer, wired everything using the correct diagram and it works great. BTW the E3 code indicates an open circuit on the temperature sensor. Maybe you clipped the wire while stapling it to the joists. Good luck.

Some sump pump have a safty switch that will not let the hum. come on if the tank is full of water, I,m not sure if this is the type that you have but make sure that the pump is pumping water. Also your humidistat have an internal switch that it should be set to bypass not to power Note: some humidifier have their own power supply the 550 dose not
SOURCE: How do I know my aprilair 760 humidifier is working?
A simple check you can perform on your aprilaire 760 is the following:
1) locate the two brown wires coming out of the 760 (these wires will be wired to tell the 760 to turn on when the hvac bower is on and the humidistat is calling for moisture).
2) temprarily disconnect the two brown wires from the external wiring and then short the wires together. All you're doing here is bypassing the your thermostat and bower-on indicator.
With the 70 unit plugged in to the wall outlet and the two brown wires connected together, both the fan and the solenoid valve (water inlet valve) should both be activated.

if it works in the test mode then it should be okay but you can get a humidity gauge from radio shack and set in the house to see how high or low its is. the humidifier is only going to give a max of 45% humidity

It sounds like you got it...
The solenoid will not open with only 13 volts to it. Jump or apply the full 24-27 volts to the solenoid and see if it clicks and opens and allows water to flow.
If the valve still won't open or pass water, start looking for a plugged inlet solenoid inlet screen or a faulty solenoid valve as well as a faulty humidistat.
