When I turn the dehumidifier 'ON' the compressor kicks 'ON' but the fan stays OFF. Is there a sensor that trips if the refrigerant R-22 is low and does not allow the fan to turn 'ON'? Is there an easy way to check if the refrigerant is too low without dismantling it from its base? Isn't the refrigerant pressurized? Please help. Thanks.

SOURCE: DH30 Dehumidifier Compressor Does not Operate

I just picked one up at a tag sale, seller said it worked sometimes. Seems to have the same problem as yours. I took the time to tweak all of the connections and then re-soldered the control board with no luck. I finally disconnected the humidity control and it worked fine. By disconnecting the humidity control the unit defaults to it's highest setting and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off. Conclusion so far is that the humidity control rheostat is bad.
Note: Now while running the fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. This may to be normal since the unit appears to be doing its job and I'm not sure how it is supposed to run since a purchased it broken.

SOURCE: Dehumidifier runs but does not condense water.

It sounds like an issue with the control bord. This dehumidifier should have a 5 year warranty through LG. You will need to have this serviced. If it is under warranty by LG they will either refer you to a local repair shop and they will pay for the repair or they will replace it if you do not have a repair shop in your area. Call them and explain the problem to them. Make sure that you have your reciept. Here is the contact information for LG:

SOURCE: My LG (LHD45ELY6) dehumidifier turns on OK. I hear

Bring it back for warranty and they will send you a new one. The warranty is 5 years for everything. These LG units have a defective design and I was told the evaporator (or parts thereof) rust and leak. My repair store had rows of LGs in for repair. Most people avoid the hassle and buy another brand. If you have the time to call LG, bring it to a repair shop, wait for an assessment, call back LG for a replacement, you'll get a replacement. But you may have to do it all over again next year -- and until your warranty expires.

SOURCE: Fan will not come on.

The fan has to run if the compressor is running as the fan assists in removing the heat from the condenser coil. Can you spin the fan by hand? If there is full power(120 volts) to the fan and it isn't running then the fan motor is bad. Also, if the fan motor has a run capacitor this could keep the fan from running(if the capacitor is defective) so look for this first.

SOURCE: Hi... my dehumidifier compressor will not turn on,

Sounds like the compressor is inoperative. Most, if not all new units have no means of recharging the freon if it leaks out. If the coils are not cooling, the compressor is not operating and the unit will not dehumidify.

Hi,
It could be just the sensor, but not likely... many times it is the circuit board that goes bad, making the repair almost prohibitive.. as the circuit board, if you can find one, is often half or more the cost of a new unit...
But you are correct... if the unit thinks the humidity is 20% then it will not bring on the compressor...that is what is happening...

The fan will start up, then the compressor, then after a few seconds the compressor dops out (stops) but the fan stays on.

your low on refrigerant(freon) and the pressure switch is opening to save the compressor,or the pressure switch is faulty itself

Dehumidifier not dehumidifying ...

Save the old one for parts if you get the same new one but I def. don't reccomend buying this unit again. The reviews are bad. The fan is not covered under the warranty except first year or extented warranty. I spoke with Kenmore & Sears about this to see if coverd under 5 yr. Only compressor, tubing & refrigeration system(see inside of front cover for warranty info.)

Sound more like a sensor/circuit board problem to me since fan is turning. I think the signal determins which setting fan needs via sensor assembly to run. I could be wrong. Justa thought.

Can you def. hear the compressor come on. You can look through grill to see fan spin & the compressor makes a clank/clunking noise/ The fan & compressor should turn same time. Good luck! If you got any info. on my fan problem & you have update or fixed your problem I ccould use some help. Check post for my problem.. Thanks! panfan1
