I have horizontal lines in pics taken with my CoolPix 5100. The video recording seems to work fine, but still pics are all banded with horizontal lines. In bright light, everything is washed out.

Hi, I have the some problem. Did you fix your camera? I would appreciate if you email me: [email protected]

This is caused by a shutter that is stuck in the open position and not able to complete its cycle. The shutter in most point-n-shoot cameras also doubles as a light limiting diaphram. When the release button is pressed it is supposed to close completely and then re-open to a specific aperture to give the correct exposure. When this fails to happen the images will be completely over exposed and you will get a horizontal "Banding".

All pics taken , only pics get these horizontal lines and noise comes from my cam . plz help I have to take my camera tomoroo for a shoot session but it doesn t' work .....

Sounds like an electronics problem that is related to the sensor. See if you can hire or borrow a similar camera for your photo-shoot and send your off for repair.
Good luck

Blurry white image when pics are taken during broad daylight

Try first to reset your camera. Press the menu button, go over to setup, go down to reset, press the right arrow, highlight reset and press set. Don't worry it won't erase any of the pictures on your memory card. If that doesn't work you can try and manually set the white balance on your camera and I would recommend sending it into repairs if that doesn't work since it's taking nighttime pictures fine. :)

Horizontal lines on image

This is not a solution , but only a work around. If you do at least 1/3 zoom on your lens before clicking a photo, these lines will not appear. But this not not a convenient way I agree.
Also this surely means that the CCD is not the problem otherwise it would have never worked ( electronic parts cant simply dont start to work when you zoom ringht ? ). Surely Nikon is fixing the issue, but cheating the customers by charging for a part is not defective in the first place

Pictur

I have had a similar problem. Pictureres look like they are taken through a Venetial blind with white horizontal bands though I did get one with dark banding. It appears to have something to do with light levels. I took a few pics in a dark area with no flash and now it is working again...until it quits working again. Perhaps it is something to do with light level calibration? Whatever it is the problem is internal. If you are still under warranty, I highly recommend taking your camera in for repairs/replacement. Ours started acting up just after the warranty expired so no love for us.
