Download from Panasonic NV GS27

How can I download video from my NV GS27 (Mini DV tape) to my PC. I have connected it with USB but it only works as a web cam currently. Unable to download the recorded material... so I need some software which can download data from the tape?

    i have about lost my temper now as i have been sitting here for the ladt 3 hours trying to find software for my vista laptop, no suprising that ive had no joy. pls help!!!

Debut Video Capture works great. USB2.0 makes it stutter but does work (but looks ****) so use firewire cable (as above).

Use the i=Link cable (firewire / IEE1394) to conect the camera to the pc. Remember you must have the firewire/ IEE1394 card conected to your pc's motherbord. But many latest laptops get the firewire(i-Link) port inbuilt. if not , you can buy a PCMCA firewire card to your laptop PCMCA slot.

firewire has faster data transer rate than USB. aprox. 400Mbps.

recomended model of the firewire cable is VW- CD1E (Brand - Panasonic)

I don't think you do. According to the Panasonic document "Operating Instructions (PC-Connection)", your camera does not use a USB connection and did not even come with the software CD that was shipped with cameras that have a USB connection.

You need to use the Firewire (DV) interface to transfer videos, and this does not require drivers. It does require Windows XP with service pack 2 (or 3) and DirectX 9.0b/9.0c, and you will probably need to fit a Firewire interface card to the computer's internal PCI bus, as most Windows computers don't come with this connection. Whether this camera will work with Windows 7 is not covered by the document.

You then use various video editing software (commercially available or free downloads from the internet) to download the recordings. The software on the computer controls my Mini-DV camera, including rewinding and play functions to record from the tape in the camera.

Hi i have a nv-gs27 its quite an old model cause its still with tape but it has a usb plug can i connect it with my pc
Please have a look at the Reluntant DIYER on goggle. I am having the same problem. Just brought a firewire IEEE 1934 and downloaded windows movie maker. It has worked for about 3/4 way through downloading, and then movie maker is saying my tape is corrupt??
Will have to try again. Hope you have more luck.

if you have windows movie maker go thru that an select import video it should bring up the usb video device option if it doesnt make sure you have the camera on pluged in to usb an set to tape play back mod if that works select caputre video and press play on camera and you should see the image on the small screen

Handy cam connecting to pc
Usually things are color coded but if not you should use the Fire Cable I'm not sure what color it is but Its usually a USB cable. (It might be called "Hard wire") Hope this helped. =)
