Black screen when camera is on...did you get an answer?

When I turn my camera on, I can view pics in camera but when turned to take new pic mode the screen is black.

Was this your problem and did you get an answer?

Thanks,
LK

I own 2 fuji finepix f700 digital cameras, bought them at the same time. One camera has black screen on pic taking mode and shows up only black when viewing the pic, everything else works fine.

The second camera, everything works well but screen shows all black and sometimes blurred lines of colors, this same shows up when viewing pic.

I have cleaned battery terminals and memory cards contacts. Neither camera falls under the serial #'s on the list of defaulted cameras.

One configuration option for the F700 is to turn off the LCD when taking pictures and use the view finder-- this saves battery power. If you press the DISP button to the right of the LCD should turn on.
.
To turn the LCD back on-- Press MENU/OK (you should see the SELF TIMER screen). Press RIGHT ARROW to select the SET option. Press UP ARROW to select the SETUP option. Press MENU/OK. You should see the SET-UP screen. Use the UP/DOWN Arrows to navigate the options; use the LEFT/RIGHT Arrows to cycle through the options. The IMAGE DISP and the LCD options control when the LCD is powered on.

CAnnon Powershot A630 LCD screen will not light up when trying to take a pic. I can, however view old pics that I've already taken.

First press the DISP or DISPLAY button to see if that corrects the problem. If not, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

I just had this problem! And the answer is simple - just hit the DISP. button and the image should return.

My viewing screen is black when trying to take a picture but when viewing pics I have already taken the screen is fine and show the pics..any idea what is wrong?

You need to go into the setup menu and turn on the display. This is sometimes turned off when you use the optical viewer or in low power modes. Your user manual will show you how to do this step by step.

The LCD screen does not display when the camera is turned on. I have installed new batteries. The screen works to see pics in the memory but does not work when taking a new pic. Also when using the view...

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

Blank picture screen

Did you accidentally hit the "DISP" button on the back of your camera? It manually turns the LCD screen on and off to save batteries.

Canon sd450 - spilled a little lemonade on the camera

maybe the lemonade was sticky and the shutter can't open? otherwise the circuitry could have been fried if you turned it on before it dried inside.

Wont show pics

CCD sensor faulty and camera will not work in capture mode ... only playback mode. Have new CCD block installed and camera will work fine.
