Vista 32 OS problem..Windows Media Player 11 stopped working

Up till now, Media Player 11 was working fine. I need it to view instant movies on Netflix. Attempted to use Netflix yesterday and it crashed Internet Explorer. Tried to just open Media Player 11 and it crashes soon as it starts saying there's a problem. I've attempted all the solutions from Windows help and nothing has helped yet.

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Does not recognize DVDs, computer

Hi there,
I would like to suggest that you attempt to download & install the codecs that your media player requires, before it will play a DVD.
I found this typical when I was using the Vista operating system with Windows Media Player 11.
The codecs can be found as freeware online & a good site for the apt codecs for WMP 11 is @ www.majorgeeks.com once you are on the site, click multimedia on the left of the page, then scroll down to the codecs required.
The K-Lite series of codecs seem to work well with WMP 11 on Vista.
I truly hope that this has resolved your problem, as there is nothing better than watching a fine movie on the old PC.
Failing my advice, you could always 'Rip' the said movie to your media player & view it from your hard drive.
Good luck anyway.
Warmest regards,
Ste

Samsung YP-K3 won't show up on Windows

Hey,

you need media player 11 or newer
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx

it should work fine instantly with media player 11 installed, just plug it in ones the media player is properly installed (you may need to restart, I don't remember for sure)

and it should work right away with wm11.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Sandisk is not detected in Vista operating system notebook

See the FAQ here - http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_view/faqs

The most common reason for this problem is not having the latest Windows Media Player installed, or having a Windows OS version that is not supported by the Sansa player.
The Sansa players support Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista and above. If your operating system version is supported by the Sansa player:
SOLUTION 1 – Download and install the latest Windows Media Player

SOLUTION 2 – If that didn’t help, and you are running Windows Vista, apply the following hotfix - KB940199
SOLUTION 3 – If that didn’t help, download and Install the MTP Porting Kit (click here)
SOLUTION 4 – If that didn’t help, try connecting the device to the PC using MSC mode

View/c200: Turn on & press and hold the rewind button while plugging into the PC

Thumbnail generation

There is no known software compatibility with adobe premiere and vista. The problem will be that you might have changed any setting in vista for thumbnails. I know vista is much different than windows. So, have a look around at the settings.

Not detected by computer - cannot recharge battery

yay I found a solution! so I kept getting the error about an MTP device, so I did a big search. I am running vista on a 32 bit processor. what you need to download is the MTP installation programme from windows. so click on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939211
and then just select what processor speed you need. should do the trick! I also downloaded http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160-E862-4F19-BB26-C0CAFE798955&displaylang=en initially, but it didn't appear to work. hope that you all get to the bottom of this frustrating problem :)
