I have a Maax bathtub and to release the drain you use a turn style knob. Lately it has not been opening the drain fully or at all, so the water will not drain. I have to go into the basement and pull on the drain cord while my wife tries to free the drain plug. What needs to be done to fix this?

The tub is clogged with hair

Few plumbing issues such as Dripping faucets. Running toilets. Leaky valves. Clogged bathtubs can be solved by our own trying few things.
1)Firstly lookout for what is causing blockage such as soap or hair inside the pipeline blocking water just pull it out from pipes.
2)Secondly use a plunger(Tool used by plumber to clear clog) pour some water in bathtub to cover the plunger block the overflow of water with rag.Place the plunger over drain pull up & down 5 to 6 times.
3)Lastly if still the clog is not cleared try out with snake a long flexible steel cable wound on a handle In a sink you just feed the snake down the drain, but on a bathtub you need to feed the snake down through the overflow plate opening. Start by feeding about 3 feet of the snake into the opening, turning it as you push it forward. You will feel some resistance as you work the snake through the trap under the drain, and the turning helps to move the head through the trap. The snake should either break up the clog by pushing its way through it, or your turning will hook the end of the snake onto the clog and you can pull it out.

After trying with above if still there is plumbing issue call sewer line repair services for help.

Jet bathtub wont drain

Seems that the mechanism on the knob that is supposed to control whether the drain is open or closed has become disconnected or is stuck in the closed position. You could try to force it open by grabbing the knob with a pair of pliers and turning it, but you may risk damaging the knob, or you could dismantle the knob and see if you can reconnect whatever came apart

Bathtub drain plug

It should be easy. You should be able to unscrew the stopper and take it out. The part of the drain that sits inside the tub screws in to the drain under the tub. It takes a special tool to remove it but you can use either two screwdrivers or is the opening is big enough the handle of your pliers and put them in the drain. If you look inside the drain there are two or three braces that go across and that is where you need to put the pliers or screwdriver in to get it to turn out. You can either get a new gasket or some plumbers putty and repair it. I hope that helped.

How does the lift and turn stopper come out so we can clean plugged drain?

  • Push the stopper down to fully seal the stopper against the tub drain.

  • 2

Turn the knob on top of the stopper counterclockwise with your fingers. Do not lift the stopper while turning the knob. Remove the knob from the stopper.

  • 3

Insert a large flathead screwdriver into the slot on the center shaft of the stopper. You will see the center shaft when you remove the knob. Turn the shaft counterclockwise to unthread it from the retaining hole in the bathtub drain basket.

  • 4

Use a pair of vise-grip pliers to turn the shaft if the center hole has corrosion and will not accept a screwdriver. Lock the jaws of the pliers securely around the shaft, and turn the shaft counterclockwise.

  • 5

Pull the stopper out of the tub by lifting it by the shaft.

Maax bathtub Palace model Error code C01 jets don't turn on.

first of all check the circuit breakers to be sure one or both aren't kicked. be sure to turn the breaker all the way off and then fully on as a tripped breaker is in a halfway off position. if that doesnt fix your problem remove the access panel to the mechanical space in your tub. there are generally one or two reset buttons in there which can also kick off and need to be reset.
