You might want to clean the contacts on your charger and BB for proper contact during charging.
Afterwards, connect to your charger, if you are charging it on a PC ensure you connect your charger to a USB at the rear of your PC. Your BB will try to power on itself once it has enough power to. Otherwise power it on after about an hour.

It means your battery is bad or its the wrong battery so if you've had the same battery the whole time you need a new one. If you just replaced it then its the wrong battery.

I have a blackberry bold 9000 and it does not turn on only the red light comes on and a battery with a lightning on it in the screen.

That symbol is normally used to imply a low state of battery charge which (if it has been charged) can mean that one cell in a multi-cell battery pack has failed and will require replacement.

My blackberry bold 9000 led stays red for a few seconds and then shows the charging icon then cycles back to the red light. It won't turn on.

Hello,
It can be deduced from your problem that there is an error on the operating system of your bold 9000,I also use a bold 9000 and i experienced the some problem 2 wks ago,
This solution helped me out;
1.You have to do a hard reset on your bold,which means you have to remove the battery from your phone and re-insert it back after 10mins,

2.if the above solution doesn't work,it means you have to flash the entire ROM random operating memory of your phone,which requires the use of a particular software which can be got from any phone technician in your area.

Have a nice day.
