If you have well water then the smell is probably coming from the water itself is it just from the washer ir does all of the water smell in that fashion if it does I would look into getting a water softner

Hello I have a Fisher and paykel 7.5g smart drive excellence washing machine it doesn't spin and I can smell something burning.thanku Kelly

Has it drained the water out. It will not spin until completely empty. If it is not draining then Iwould say the burning smell is the drain pump overheating. Do not try to run it like that as the drain pump will short out the main control board eventually. Bail the water out by hand, tip the machine back against the wall and check the pump on the front right side of bowl. Replace the pump.

Hi.
The smell will be coming from inside the drum as you summised.
It is probably caused by the drain in need of cleaning, or more likely a build up of dirt and scum on the door seal cased by doing too many low temperature washes.
Check the seal carefully and if it is stained black, then the only real solution is to replace the seal, and do more high temperature washes

I have a front loader that smells like something died in it. I have tried affresh bleach Tide washer cleaner Basic G leaving the door open cleaning the gasket washing the drum cleaning the filter and hoses...

you can open the filter drainage under near the drain hose. there may be something that comes into the washer drum and died leaving a smell. how to open the filter is rotated and pulled out only. then you try to drain the washing machine how to turn it. will allow water or sewage, which is in the drum filter out of the hole. and do not forget to clean the exhaust filter the water, there will be a lot of dirt.

You probally have a front load washing machine. There is probally mildew in the wash tub & discharge hoses. Try washing an empty load with a hot water and a cup of vineagar and see if that helps with the odor. If it does, then repeat this once a month.

Smell coming from inside washing machine. Not musty.

This is a fairly common problem that often arises when the majority of washes are done with cold water.

Do what is called a maintenance wash where you set the machine to run with hot water and maximum fill of water. Add one half cup of baking soda and let it run through it's entire cycle with absolutely no clothes in it.

After it completes its full cycle check for that bad odor. If it is fully gone wonderful. If it is half as bad do a second maintenance wash.

If the maintenance wash doesnt seem to help at alll get back to me and I will make another recommendation.

Bad Smell

this is caused by a build up of old detergent and limescale.there are some industrial strength descalers around.wpro descaler is one.add the sachet to the drum with no wash load.pour in a kettle of hot water(not boiling)and leave for thirty minutes.then put washing machine on a 60 degree cycle and allow to run right through.you will need to repeat approximately every three months
