I bought one new made this year 2010 for my wife through eBay Germany. I live in Canary Islands, Spain. I am having problems with the display which sometimes appears upside down, other times blurred and with colours mixing. When this happens you have to switch off the phone and turn it on again. So I have had to take the pin code off risking in security if lost. Not too happy with it. Anyone has experencied this problem. P.S. ........ Everyday is getting worse and more annoying. Hello, The phone is a Doro Phone Easy 410 gsm and the charger is an Europe type for 100-240 Volts. So this is not the problem. Its a mobile gsm phone.

This of the screen going crazy happens since the beginning. If you open and close the clamshell sometimes gets O.K. but most of the times you need to turn it off and on again for seing the screen
O.K. I have also reiniciate it and works well for a while long or short and afterwards the same story.

The screen can get legible but upside down but most of the times its blurred and with all colours mixed. It also can go from green to violet colour or from black to white. The screen goes completely crazy and I don't know when or why as the clamshell is closed. When you open it to receive a call or for making it surprise surprise. I feel its a factory problem of this phone or probably of more phones also. If I could find an easy Nokia with a big touch pad I would forget of this one. I have all sellers papers as well as factory ones but I don´t know where I could send it for have it changed or repaired. The seller sold it, I accepted it as O.K. just received and in the next hours this problem appeared. He does'nt answer my e-mails.

The Vodaphone SIM was before in a Nokia N95 that for me its easier than this one if you get in problems with it. But shows empty and the agenda is in the telephones own memory..... I could restart it all over again including the agenda. ??? Could be the **** shell contacts who produces this. Or static electricity......... The only good thing the phone has is the back button for emergency calling to 5 numbers I think.

    Thanking you, Best Regards,
    [email protected]

Well I think I will contact this people in Switzerland as the Guarantee says its 24 months to see what solution they give me. It could be any semiconductor or the like that after so many hours of work fails. This is too complex for me. If I write them and get an answer I will let you know. If not I can get free from Vodaphone an easy cheap phone that will be better than this one. The Nokia´s Platform 60 are very easy to use and I can program it in a nice easy way for my wife. Now I have Iphones myself but before I have used mostly Nokia´s Platform 60. If I have further news I will keep you informed. Thanking you very much, Best Regards, Ernesto. PS. I do not recommend this Doro phone because trying to make it easy lacks things in Adjustments that maybe could get the phone working without this problem. The phone works but if you can´t see the screen when you open it you even know who is calling you and if you turn it off you loose the call. Looks primitive and made with low cost plastics.

    Dear Mr. Doro UK,

I already sent you the phone details with the Customer Information filled.

As I got from Vodaphone a simple NOKIA I transferred the phonebook from the DORO without SIM CARD to the NOKIA with the SIM CARD. To my surprise the DORO without the SIM CARD had no problems during all the process through bluetooth. This made me open the phone and examine it with a big light loop. I found out that the aluminum lid that keeps the SIM CARD in its place had one side out of place. I was lucky and could fix it in its place so now it could open and close the lid perfectly well. I installed again the SIM, closed the lead and fixed it in the close position. Now the phone screen display is not as good as it should be but the phone can be used so I think its not worth it sending it for Servicing.

    So thanking you very much,

    Best Regards,

    ERNESTO HAFNER CAULFIELD.

It sounds to me like the 2 countries have different operating voltages within their phone systems.Has it worked normal until now?If so for how long?Or did it happen since day 1?Answering these questions will immensely help me determine what's going on.Greg

Okay,so you are saying it's a mobile/cell phone, and not the one in the picture?Did you buy it through a site such as ebay or something similar? If you did,I would like to know the site name so I can check their policies. In the mean time,I will look for a manual or some kind of info about your phone.

  • Anonymous Nov 20, 2010

Your best bet right now is to find out about return or exchange. We bought a Gucci purse on ebay once and within 3 seconds of opening it my wife knew it was an imitation because she knows what look for.We returned it and the seller gave us quite a lot more than we paid back.I wish I would have kept their name because they obviously knew it was fake. For ebay, brand names and electronics are definite no no's.I have had a lot of success with Amazon if you have it there.I just got back from errands,unexpectedly.Sorry.

  • Anonymous Nov 21, 2010

I don't know if Doro is a popular brand where you are but it doesn't sound it.The name itself sounds cheap as the plastic probably looks to you. Also yeas,if it doesn't have much for adjustments which current things do,that is a good sign.Good luck Sir and I will watch for your response.Hopefully they will handle this properly.

  • Anonymous Nov 29, 2010

Very very good Sir.I am glad you figured it out.

Can't locate plus character to put in front of an overseas contact number on my panasonic KX-TG2511ALdigital cordless phone

The "+" is merely a placeholder for the international call prefix (IDD) used in your country.
  • For example, if you live in France (IDD: 00) and need to call a phone located in Germany (Country code: 49), you would call 00 49 ...
  • If you live in USA (IDD: 011) and need to call a phone in Germany (Country code: 49), you would call: 011 49 ...

I have a Philips HD4686 1.5 litre kettle I live in Fuerteventura Canary Islands and I purchased my Kettle on 28 November 2008 for 63 euros from Nortysur in Corralejo and have not had any problems with...

I am not sure if you have a copy of the user manual for this kettle. In any case you can download it from. The figures mentioned in the decriptions are on page 158.

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hd4686_90/hd4686_90_dfu_eng.pdf

Now coming to the problem. The most obvious cause is the thermostat that controls the temperature is not working anymore.

But there could be other factors that could be investigated before making any conclusions.

1. Do you descale the kettle regularly - see page 13 of the manual What about the filter? is it clean.
2. Are you able to set the desired water temperature before you press the On button. Use the set temp button and see if you can change the settings - it could be stuck at a lower level and does not start the heater.
If problem is not going away after 1 or 2 above then you will have to contact the Philips service.

I presume you will have to refer to the local retailer in Canary Islands or refer to Philips in Portugal. The product may still be under warranty.

I bought an HDTV LCD Sanyo from USA got it with me to Lebanon, when I turn the TV on the picture is so clear but it will not work on the satelite or caple, the picture not clear and has no voice. I need to...

There are currently 3 main television standards used throughout the world:

NTSC - National Television Standards Committee. The oldest existing standard, developed in the USA. First used in 1954. Consists of 525 horizontal lines of display and 60 vertical lines. Sometimes irreverently referred to as "Never Twice the Same Color." Only one type exists, known as NTSC M.
Here is a list of TV STANDAREDS I had for a while and can finally share it with someone. GOOD LUCK!!!! TECHMAN

SECAM - Système électronique pour Couleur avec Mémoire. Developed in France. First used in 1967. A 625-line vertical, 50-line horizontal display. Sometimes referred to by wags as "Something Essentially Contrary to the American Method" or SEcond Colour Always Magenta!" Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Types B and D usually used for VHF; types G, H, and K for UHF; types I, N, M, K1 and L for both VHF/UHF. Different types are generally not compatible.

PAL - Phase Alternating Line. Developed by German engineer Walter Bruch and the German electronic corporation Telefunken. Walter Bruch
patented his invention 1963 and the first commercial application of the PAL system was in August 1967. Also a 625/50-line display and variant of NTSC. Proponents call it "Perfection At Last." Due to the cost of the enormous circuit complexity, critics often refer to it as "Pay A Lot". Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Common types are B, G and H; less common types include D, I, K, N and M. The different types are generally not compatible.
