It seems that you tried to save your ID with Password to automatically login option, and by chance the id was empty, and it is mixed in Registry of your windows,
Step 1: Uninistall the yahoo messenger from your computer from control panel also remove yahoo browser services or toolbars installed
Step 2: Go to program files folder and delete yahoo messenger folder C:\program files\yahoo
Step 3: What you can do is to clear the registry entries of Yahoo messenger, Download C cleaner from the link below

Installation Process:

need more info, but for starters make sure you have all updated codecs and java script installed, then try to uninstall yahoo messenger and re-install it clean from yahoo's host site

It is most likely because you don't have scripts enabled. Try this first.

To enable scripting:

1. Click the "Tools" menu on your Internet Explorer toolbar and select "Internet Options."
2. Click the "Security" tab.
3. Click the Internet (globe) icon and click the "Custom Level" button.
4. Scroll down to "Scripting."
5. Enable the following:
* Active scripting
* Allow paste operations via script
* Scripting of Java applets are all enabled
6. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.

Uninstall everything yahoo related from add/remove programs. Go to your C:, then Program Files and delete the yahoo folder from there also. Now go download ccleaner from www.download.com and run the cleaner, once that is done run the registry cleaner a couple times.

Try re-installing the latest yahoo from there. IF that failed also, you have one last shot that will work but it can be tedious a bit and a little dangerous so make sure to back up your files before proceeding. If the error still happens, do all of the above except for re-installing the yahoo. Now from the run command (Windows Logo Key + R), type: regedit <Hit ENTER>. Up top click on Edit and then click Find. Type: Yahoo! <Hit Enter>. Delete what it found and then press F3 to find the next yahoo! item. Delete everything it finds till there are no more matches found. Close the Regedit and reboot the pc. Now re-install the latest Yahoo Messenger and the problem is gone. I have done this several times for clients and this fixes it 100% of the time. Cheers!

Delete all your temporary files from C:\Documents and Settings\your document folder\Local Settings\temp folder. If temp folder has been hidden, Go to tools, click View tab then click the option button for Show hidden files and folders. If you had installed previous installation of a yahoo messenger, uninstall it and try reinstalling it.
