I have a japanese DCR-trv20 cam corder the on screen instructions are in japanese - can I change them to english

Remove the Battery to Reset...and then go to MENU.... Then LANGUAGE

These instructions will just change an English language NEX-3N that has the instructions set to Japanese. They may not work on a Japanese model of the NEX-3N.

Find the Menu screen by pressing the MENU button on the camera.
Select the SETUP icon (This looks like a case) in the bottom right of the screen.
The Language setting is a long way down the SETUP MENU but it is the only setting that has an icon.
The icon looks like a book with a capital A on it. [A]
These instructions are on or about page 56 of the NEX-3N instruction manual.

Set the power switch to CAMERA. Press OPEN to open the LCD panel. Press FN to display Page1. Press MENU to display the menu. Select the toolbox icon. Select the third item in the menu.

My research shows that model is only for sale only in Asia, I looked into some similar USA released models and they did NOT have multiple language support so I am thinking that the DCR-TRV9 is only in Japanese.

Just out of curiosity are the markings on the camera body in English or in Japanese?

Yes, it takes a while but will work eventually

Your PC must have DV port for DV signal.
You can connect your camera with PC through USB port only.
Try to find DV card for PC in local computer market.

There should be english in the setup screen under language. I hoe they dont use PAL as their TV standard or your TV out will not work. Probably switcheable. Are all the buttons in Japanese, youll have to do your homework on those.

THESE HAVE A COMON PROBLEM WITH THE PINCH ROLLER RETAINER. THEY CRACK AND WORK THEIR WAY UP AWAY FROM THE PINCH ROLLER AND SOMETIMES FALL OUT COMPLETELY. IF YOU CAN FIND IT ,THEY CAN BE TRIMMED AND REINSTALLED. LARRY

If you have tried all the settings and still no picture,would suspect ccd sensor faulty,this is a job for qualified engineer
