The eMachines ET1331G desktop computer uses the eMachines NexGen 3 computer case.

Looking at the computer from the Front, the Left Side Panel removes.

Looking at the back you will be viewing the Right side.
There are two screws to remove, then the side panel is slid Back. (Towards the rear of the computer)

There is a raised protrusion in the middle of the Side Cover on the back. This is where your fingers go to pull back on the Side Panel.

There is one screw coming down from the top, on the edge of the Side Panel, and one screw coming up from the bottom.
(Philips head screws)
Remove them.

Slide the Side Panel back. It will only slide back so far, as there are tabs coming from the Side panel, into slots of the computer case.
Once it stops sliding back, take it straight out to the side. Lay the Side Panel aside.

Here is a photo detailing the back of the ET1331G from eMachines Support,

http://support.gateway.com/emachines/desktop/2009/emachines/et/ET1831/ET1831rv.shtml

The two screws on the Right side, as you are viewing the computer from the Rear, as shown here.

NOTE*

1) Computer UNPLUGGED from power

2) Observe Anti-Static Precautions BEFORE reaching inside the computer, and BEFORE handling hardware parts.

Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity.

Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the hardware components in a computer.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open.
TOUCH the metal frame of the open computer case to relieve your body of Static.

Should you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to touch the metal frame again upon your return.

For additional questions please state in a Comment.

Emachines et1331g 05w

Emachine website is Download Center ALL Products No BIOs update for it is listed for the 3TB problem. But back in the days of the 1 Gig problem, we would just make different partitions to get around the problem. Might work as well here. If you installing a new harddrive do a clone of your old one. It will make a copy of all your current harddrive info and layout onto the 3TB drive. Just larger partitions if you need help on doing this just ask and give the brand and model. So I can look up the software from the manufacturer. Also state one brand of the old drive.

Hello materman, click here: http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=ET1331G-05w This website will show you all the specifications of the "Type & Model" eMachine that you have, this way you can use the "specifications: size, type, and measurements to figure out what kind of "Fan" to install. The most important thing to be aware of is the "Measurements" if it don't fit! You can't use it. There are various :speeds, power needed, this will go by: "Voltage & Amps needed, or requirements. I think you get the idea; thanks for using Fix' Ya, take a look. "Good Luck! paulof9

Yesterday my friends emachine ET1331G-03w just bought 2 months ago, due to microsoft software updates issues upon restarting her computer won't start windows due to problem above, we tried to do f8 on...

As the computer is only 2 months old, you should be able to contact Emachines and have
them send you a recovery disc out for the particular model. As the computer may seem identical, in most cases a recovery disc from your computer will not work because of a different
driver or some other small issue.
