Question about Uniden TRU8885 Cordless Phone
I've had the TRU8885 for a while, and have lost or broken a few phones. I bought some brand new unregistered phones off ebay. The first few registered fine as handsets 8, 9 and 0. Then when I tried to register the last one it came up saying "Unavailable". I think this is because you can only have ten handsets. I have less than that in reality, but since the lower number ones are long gone, I can't unregister them.
The only instructions I can find on unregistering have to do with having the actual handset. I can't find anything on how to unregister a lost or broken handset from the base. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance for any assistance on this.
Some tricks from a helpful Uniden rep:
holding down end+# keys at the same time on the phone for about 10 secs (you will hear a beep) will deregister the handset. If you have a dead handset and want to deregister it from the base, you have to reset the base. unplug the phoneline and power. hold down the "delete message" key, plug power back in. about 10 secs later, you will hear a long beep (theres a short beep upon powerup as well). At this point all handsets are deregistred and you will have to reregister them with the end+# trick. this way when #1 handset is dead, you can make a working one #1 and get the broken one fixed
BTW, this is a woot warranty, not uniden warranty. however the uniden rep gave me the number to the people who refurb (rox0rz!) these. I'll post an update when I finally get ahold of them (and the number if its actually helpful)

I have a DECT 1588 and one handset failed. I bought a replacement and cannot register it. According to Uniden, you can only register a new handset if you have the old handset working so you can de-register it. So, if one handset fails, you are down to a maximum of five handsets instead of six handsets. Or, you can buy a new base.
