I cannot get any wifi connection. I purchased a Sylvania Netbook. I have followed the quick start directions. The wifi icon will not set up it shows off. I tried to set it up in two different wifi locations in town, no service at either place. Have a dry loop on my computer so I cannot try anything here. HELP (or it goes back to the store)

Please check whether you have the External Wifi Switch Turned ON. If it is Turned. Now go to Windows Mobility Center and check whether the Wifi feature is enabled.

If the Option is grayed out check whether the Driver is Installed and Enabled.
if the issue still persist, Please check whether the Wireless LAN Zero Confirguration Service is Started and set to Automatic/

How to connect sylvania netbook to wifi

If windows is up and running make sure your wifi card is enabled (there's usually either a switch or one of the function keys will turn it on or off). From there in the bottom right corner look for your wifi icon or go to the control panel and find your wifi connection settings. From there just follow the directions on your screen to connect it to your wifi hotspot.

Please give me step by step directions to get my netbook to hook up to hotel wi-fi. thank you

Please see the quick start guide that came with your Sylvania Netbook running Win CE 6. You will also find the same step-by-step directions at the www.digitalgadgets.com website. They also have a YouTube demo video.

Hint: double left click the "pc" with the )) that are red on the lower right task bar. Click the right tab, find the hotel wifi, select then click "connect" button if it prompts you for a "pass phrase" get it from the hotel front desk.

Ok, so I've followed the directions in the quick start guide and use some personal knowledge of how to connect a computer to a wireless Internet source but my netbook won't connect. My network is on a...

It is looking for a password (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computer icon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it. The red X indicates that it is NOT connected. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up, then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name of your WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. Then another window opens up called Network Properties. Uncheck "The key is provided automatically" box. This will allow you to type in your "Network Key", the password that protects your network from outsiders. This "KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your server computer. If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on it's back and using a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonally from the right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy of everything including the WiFi RT28701 driver.
sometimes this driver gets confused. See my TIP at: http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fix_synet07526_wifi_flashing

I recently bought a Sylvania 7 inch netbook sold at CVS. It states to activate WI Fi to click on wifi icon on bottom right of screen. If icon is not available to press FN + F9 When I press FN+F9 nothing...

On the left side of the main screen, you will see an icon that says "WI-FI Power". That's the switch to turn it on. When you click it, a little box will appear that says "turn on" when it's off and "turn off" when it's on.

But you have to do more than that. Next, I suggest to Google "digitalgadgets.com". Find "Sylvania products", click on "7 inch netbook support" and follow directions.

For # 4 you will find your "hot spot" name". Click connect.
For # 5 you may have to call your "Internet Service Provider" (Charter, AT&T or whoever you pay for your internet-to get your "network keys", etc. Then click ok.

Next be sure you go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, General and then complete "User Agent (requires Browser Restart)" by selecting:

"Default" (same as Windows XP)" or
"Same As Pocket PC" or
"Windows CE"

I selected "Default" and was off and running.

Sylvania netbook with win ce 6.0 wifi will not hook up to internet

My little sister just got the Sylvania netbook. We had the same problem, then I found the directions. I don't know if it's the same netbook... but on this one you press fn+f9 at the same time (may have to press and hold). Then a little computer looking icon will pop up on the bottom right of the windows screen. Double click on that and then wireless connections tab. You should then see your available wifi connections. If you have a key to put in, it will then ask for it... then hit 'connect'
Hope this helps

I have followed all the instructions on how to connect the wireless router to my Sylvania Netbook and I am still unable to access the internet, can you give me the solution to this problem.

Had the same problem with my Sylvania Netbook I purchased last week. Last night, I stopped by CVS that received a shipment early in the afternoon and purchased another. Powered on to wifi at first and it would not connect on internet. Clicked on little tv, pulled up my preferred connection and entered Network key. Shut down and restarted and it connected onto google!

My original Sylvania Netbook had the same settings in place and still would not connect - so I am returning it today for a refund - it was defective.
