Let me ask you this: Did OS-you didn't say which one- recognize Your HD when you try to install it?If HD is installed properly - then problem is that OS has no drivers for it. Meaning- try another OS.More data would be helpful.

I replaced a bad hard drive , now I can't instll any OS. I get blue screen in the middle of a install. What do I need to do to install a OS?

Blue screens mean that there is a hardware issue. Disconnect all peripherals (usb, printers, etc) and try the install again. If you get another Blue screen, then there is an internal hardware error that would need to be addressed by a service technician. You can try re-seating all of the conponents (RAM, HD, etc) but this rarely helps.

Replaced HD and CD Rom drive, PC will not boot to disk, Do I need to format HD 1st. before loading OS?

Hi Get to the bios screen using F8 or F9, change the first boot device to CD ROM/DVD, then insert a bootable disk into the CD drive and try installing the OS first by completely formatting the HD during installation Win XP and higher OS editions give you the option to partition the HDD Hope this resolves

Unmountable Boot Volume BSOD

0xED is not just specifically present on HP computers but all PC-based computers which has XP or later using NTFS on it. It can be resolved by doing a chkdsk /f /r or by performing a repair installation using windows. This is caused by software corruption (which is repairable using the steps aforementioned) or hardware failure, which may lead to OS reinstallation or harddrive replacement

Bois problems????

No - this is something that can generally only be resolved with a repair install of the XP.

The repair option can be accessed while doing a standard (i.e. boot from the CD) install. Note: this is a repair option after you select to install; not the repair/recovery options on the first screen.

It should detect your OS and ask if you want to repair it. This will cause you to have to reactivate windows, and I highly recommend having your drivers already downloaded and ready to be installed. Some programs my have to be reinstalled also.

There is a sysprep tool that can be used, but I've always found it easiest to do a repair.

Blue iMac

It sounds like there's underlying problems unrelated to Panther. If the computer boots from the the old HD, but then the HD didn't show under Disk Utility, this is an intermittent problem. Try replacing the cable that goes to the HD (if there is one), it may have become damaged sufficiently that things aren't working under "heavy use" (like trying to install an OS). If there is no cable, or replacing it doesn't work, I'd suggest putting the original HD in and selling the computer as-is. Again, if it still botos from the old HD, then it's not a problem with the HD or Panther, unless the reconditioned HD you bought was faulty (unlikely but possible). More likely is when you installed the reconditioned HD, something else changes (e.g. connection made better contact) that caused the HD to show.
