Washer filled and then washer was out of balance so it stopped before the rinse cycle. I adjusted the clothes more evenly, and nothing happened. We emptied the water by hand and then removed the wet clothes, nothing again. It well not make a sound and we have checked the outlet for current. Help!
Open the lid if it doesn't click check the lid switch,on the older maytags if they went out of balance the lid switch would sometimes stick, your washer is old and i can't see some of the lookups for it,like i said if you open the lid and you don't hear a clicking sound when you open and close it you have a problem with the lid switch, there's a plastic plunger part on it that could have broke or moved when it went off balance go here to see it

this is for model number LAT9420AAE you have to send the full model number to look it up.hope this helps,if it's not the lid switch send your question again with the full model number so whoever answers you can look up your model to get the correct parts.hope this helps you out.on some models you can reach in just above the tub and feel the switch to realine it back up but you might have to open up the top console to get at it.
SOURCE: clothes still wet washing on Maytag neptune
Your pump, or the hose between the pump and drum, might be clogged. Could be spare change from unemptied pockets.

Read along in the threads/posts on the same topics. I posted a lengthy reply that has worked for me numerous times
SOURCE: Machine won't rinse or spin properly..also stinks!
The clothes are wet after spinning
When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:
Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Siphoning
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler
To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:
Spin cycle
If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.
Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.
Siphoning
If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.
Water-inlet valve
Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.
SOURCE: Strange growling sounds on rinse and spin cycle
I would check the motor control board located near the floor on the right side for burnt components. The motor is a 3 phase unit and if one of the phases are working the motor will growl and won't be able to supply the proper torque.
See www.neptunehelp.com for disassembly photos and for more info on the faulty door latch wax motor.
