How to reset an HP LaserJet 3055

The 49 code is related to one of three things on this unit.

1. You accidentally used a refurbished toner instead of one directly from the manufacturer which tends to cost a bit more. The certified one from the dealer is known to clear this error code instantly.

2. Your internal memory cash will need to be reset

3.You have internal hardware failure which can not be repaired by the user and must be sent to the manufacturer.

Perform a cold reset

1. Turn the printer on.
2. Watch the control panel.
3. When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green (Select) button. Continue to hold Select button until all three Control Panel LED's are illuminated and on solid.
4. Release the (Select) button.
5. The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE .
6. Press (Down Arrow) button until control panel displays COLD RESET .
7. Press (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence.

Under device settings Go to system settings, Then go to system setup. You can change the language from there.

Pages 67 thru 117 covers all fax functions and features of your HP Laserjet 3055 in this users guide. Hope this helps.

I dont have the answer; however the closest I could find in teh 3055 service guide was the following statement:
"Printer job language (PJL) software commands Many PJL scripts are available for restoring parameters such as paper size and page counts after the formatter has been replaced. For comprehensive instructions, see the Printer Job Language Technical Manual and the Printer Job Language Technical Manual Addendum"
I do not have those two manuals but it would seem that is the direction you need to head in order to solve this issue. Many of the HP laserjet's have an easier method than using PJL commands, however this model does not provide such ease of use.

information about the cause:
PCL XL error pages that print from an HP LaserJet 1200, 1300, 2200, 2300, 3200 or 3300 series product when a PCL 6 printer driver is in use typically indicate a communication issue. Sometimes this issue is caused by an incompatibility between the Enhanced XL language and the software application.

thish is paper sencer problem & change the paper sencer.

go to settings of that and then change its language to english.
if u dont understand that then press reset button for 10 seconds which is back on router.then it reset but u have to reconfigure your router again if u reset it.

You have a formatter issue (motherboard) on the printer. Sounds like you took a surge possably through your telephone line.

Here's a couple things to try and re-initialize the machine.

Soft Reset: Press "Menu", then press * and # simultaniously to enter the developer menu section. Press the "> or < until until REINTFFS is displayed on the second line of the display. Press the "Check button". The machine will go through a series of checks and flash different things. About 2 to 2.5 minutes later the machine will return to ready.

If that doesn't fix it, here's the next more aggressive reset but caution as this will reset all your settings and you will have to reset up everything (language, phone numbers, country code etc..) after using.

Super NVRAM Ret:

Turn off machine, Press and hold down * and 5 while turning on machine. Continue hold down throughout the power up sequence. When PERMANENT STORAGE INT is deplayed on the display, release the buttons. When prompted, set the language and telecom region.

To set the language and telecomm region, the machine will prompt for them when they have been erased. Simply use the > or < until its correct for your language and then press the "check" button. Same process for the region. Once both have been set the machine should come to READY.

If neither of the above works, you will need a professional tech to resolve the issue and possably replace the formatter board.

Try this: 1. unplug all cables from back of unit (turn power off as well) 2. while the printer is off hold down the * and 5 3. while holding them turn printer on 4. continue to hold buttons until display reads 'Permanent Storage Init' 5. then release buttons 6. at the end of reset it will ask you to select language and location, just press enter then 1 to confirm Hope that works!! Ed PS. You could have picked an easier language!!!
