My sony tv has a line across the screen that says bx42, full hd1080p, digital noise reduction, usb play, hdmi2, bravia sync, pc input, 24p true cinema and i cant get rid of it.

i think your TV is on demonstration mode.

To turn off the demo mode, press and hold the HOME or MENU button on the TV for more than 10 seconds. The messageDemo mode: Off will appear on the screen.
NOTES:

If holding the HOME button for 10 seconds does not work, you can also try pressing and holding the CH/INPUTbutton for 10 seconds.
Resetting the TV to the original factory settings will also turn off this feature.

Your TV is in store demo mode.

To fix this, access the TV's menu and find the option to run initial setup. At the beginning of initial set-up, you'll be asked whether or not the TV should be put into Home or Retail mode. Choose Home.

Here'show to turn off the demo mode,

Power ON the television
(Use remote Commander)
1.Select "TV" mode (not AV, demo mode can't switch offwhen you are in AV)
2. Press the "home" button on the remote.
3. Select "settings"
4. Select "set up"
5. Scroll down to "factory setting" and restore them.
6. When it asks home or shop display select "home".

Turn demo mode off on Sony Bravia TV

Press and HOLD (5 sec) the MENU button located on the SIDE of the TV. A message will appear; (Demo Mode: OFF).

Store Mode is ON.

for Bravia's.. To turn off the demo mode, press and hold the MENU button on the TV for more than 10 seconds. The message Demo mode: Off will appear on the screen.

Press the home button on the remote to go to the cross bar thing.
Choose settings
Look For set up
Scroll down to factory setting and restore them.
After that it will go to set up mode when it asks home or shop/display select "home".

This will disable the Demo Mode.
