Sony KP-53V35 - red tube issues

I got this tv dead with a short in the HV Block, $50 later it worked for a while. On first try it took a minute or more to warm up, but picture came on in fairly good shape. I adjusted the screen and focus (down) after the set started to warm up and screen went black with sound. Green and Blue appear to be dimly lit in "warmed up mode" but red shows nothing but tube tip has normal amber glow all tubes have. TV now comes on with sound but no picture and never comes out of stand-by blinking light. I don't think the tube is shot since it did work for a while, but I'm not expert, I just know safety precautions and basic diagnostic troubleshooting. I've reseated the HV Wires to the block and all appear to be getting good power. I have a feeling the set isn't releasing video out until it receives signal back from red that it's ready to go.  Any Ideas to why the red tube isn't glowing at the phosphorus end but is at the clear tip?

I'm working on my 1996 model KP-53v35 Sony. The problem is that I plug it in and it tries to come on and the red LED flashes and it shuts off.

If the lamp light is blinking, then lamp needs to be replaced. If the standby light is blinking, the try resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then the service may be required.

The screen turns blue after about 2 minutes of turning on the TV

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

I have a Sony KP-57WV600 with a similar problem described by someone else on this site. The screen turns red and stays red within a minute of turning it on. If I turn it off and back on again, it's ok for...

I have the same set, I was able to get the set working doing what was suggested on the site I posted below. Unfortunately I have other problems now. These sets are notorious for having failing CRT's (Guns, Tubes). These adjustments "should" help you buy more time out of the set. Sony doesn't make the CRT for these TV's any longer. You can get refurbished ones for around 200.00. Keep in mind there are 3. It is not really worth it, not to mention the time it takes to do the adjustments on the new tubes. If the set won't stay on long enough to do the adjustment, back the appropriate color knob back slightly then try again. I hope this helps.

How do I remove the HV lines on the D board?

Do not cut them.
Push and twist thicker wire in HV block and pull out. HV block has 3 more wires going to 3 guns in TV.
Never cut this wire.

Television powers up then shuts off Kp-53v35

You likely have an open fuse caused by bad convergence ouptut ic's type #STK392-560 sony part #8-749-014-67. There are 2 in the set and i recommend replacing both at the same time.
