Hi, We have developed a fault with our Philips 720 transcription system, when using the foot pedal we can not get the tape to play (it does rewind with the pedal). It is not the foot pedal unit as we have purchased a new one of these to eliminate this. The tape unit does work when pressing play but obviously the foot pedal doesn't control the machine then. Help?!!

Hello Press the PLAY and REWIND keys at the
same time the LCD display shows the fast
rewind symbol together with an S to indicate
that the tape is being erased backward. The
erase function continues until either the
beginning of tape is reached or another function is selected.

If the tape re-winds when you take your foot off the pedal then the auto-rewind switch on the right side of the machine at the back is set to number 3. Move it forward to number 1 or 0. If it really does rewind while your foot is on the pedal then I don't know what is causing that. Sorry.
