When i turn my camera on the screen just goes black right away.
at first it shows the screen, then it goes black and i cant do anything
anymore. right when i turn on i would have to go to menu or review of pictures to prevent it from going black. please help me!
Sounds like battery life is gone. If there rechargeable batteries they might not be holding a charge anymore.
If your camera has a power cord that plug into your camera to charge the battery does it do the same thing?
If it doesn't have a power cord, what happens when you plug the camera into your computer?

I turn the camera on and it shows the pentax screen. Then immediatley turns black. the green light is on and sometimes I can make the flash work but other than that nothing will work on the camera.
When I plug my camara into the wall it shows the Pentax screen then goes black flash , review (of old pictures) will work and it will take a picture.. but the picture is black.sam thing happens when I put batteries in it.. I have 8 different rechargable batteries and they all do the same thing.. Now the funny part is it was working perfectly YESTURDAy!!! PLZ if you know how to fix or have ANY suggestions.. then let me know thank you very much
my camera use to turn on, show display screen and turn off, but now i can't even turn it on. when i plug it into my computer it goes "usb storage device not working properly"
I also have the Pentax Optio E10 with the same problem.
Possibility 1: The Pentax Optio camera is notorious for measuring normal batteries as low. I have found that if I use rechargeable NiCd batteries that have just come off the charger (maximum charge), I can get the camera to turn on. It will still report a low battery, but at least it will not just go black and shut down.
Possibility 2: Your batteries actually are low. Try freshly recharged NiCd or New Alkaline batteries.
