Samsung SMT-190 19" Flat Panel TFT LCD Security Monitor Logo
Posted on Nov 15, 2010

Locked out on Samsung SME-2220 (8CH DVR). I set the password and now it's not working. I need to either figure out how to log in correctly after this password reset, or I need to perform a hard reset. Either one's fine, but I don't know how. I really need to do a hard reset. How do I do so?

I got as far as the power down and back up......messed up and shut down with power switch on the back of the monitor....now nothing but a black screen with a white line down the middle....also if I hook up a external monitor I see the cameras and the log-in screen.... it then went crazy and power cycled on it own a few times.....the only way to get the log-on screen was to disconnect the hard drive before power up.

MattMTX is right, but the important part is when you press "Monitor" / "Menu" / "4" / "6" ...... you must do fast. After password is reset, press "6" and "6" again to get out. Then poweroff / poweron the system and the password will be 4321

I need to replace my Samsung SME-2220N DVR Security System monitor. Is there a replacement or different model that will be compatible with the original 8 cameras & wires already installed?

Very unlikely as this is basically a computer, hard drive, DVR and operating system built into a monitor. Your best bet is to either try and get it repaired or ask Samsung if they can supply a replacement.

How to default SRD Samsung password dvr

  1. Power off the DVR: Make sure the DVR is powered off by disconnecting it from the power source.
  2. Locate the reset button: On the back or bottom of the DVR, you should find a small reset button. It is often recessed and may require a pointed object like a paperclip or pin to press.
  3. Press and hold the reset button: Using a suitable tool, press and hold the reset button for about 15 to 30 seconds. This will reset the DVR to its default settings, including the password.
  4. Power on the DVR: After releasing the reset button, reconnect the DVR to the power source and power it on. The DVR will go through a startup process.
  5. Access the DVR: Once the DVR has finished booting up, you should be able to access it using the default login credentials.
    • Username: The default username is usually "admin" or "admin1234". If these do not work, consult the DVR's user manual or documentation for the correct default username.
    • Password: The default password is typically either blank (no password) or set to "4321". If none of these options work, refer to the DVR's documentation or contact Samsung's technical support for assistance.

How to reset Admin password on Samsung SDR-C5300N Digitalvideo recorder

If you have forgotten your admin password on a Samsung Security DVR, most experts would suggest that you have to contact Samsung and/or send it back to Samsung to have the administrator password reset. While this is true in some cases, it is not always necessary.
Many Samsung Security DVRs have a built-in reset that will allow you to wipe the settings of the device and reset the configuration, including the administrator password. Note that if you perform one of these resets, all settings will be erased and you will have to setup the DVR again. So you should only do this as a last resort - but to reset an admin password, the last resort is the only option.
Reset Procedures for Samsung Security DVRs
There is more than one reset procedure for Samsung Security DVRs, depending on the series and model. But in total, this only amounts to a handful. Since one reset can apply to several different models, I'll provide the resets here so you can try them on yours - I won't associate any one reset with a single model because a complete list of which reset works with what model Security DVR simply doesn't exist. Some of these won't make sense based on the buttons available on your unit or your remote. In those cases, just skip that reset procedure.
If you can perform a reset (in other words, if the instructions match what you have available on your Samsung Security DVR and/or Samsung Security DVR Remote), try it, and let us know in the comments if it works and on what model. If you tell us which model Samsung Security DVR you have, along with your results of each reset procedure, we can compile a complete list of reset procedures by model so that it will be easier for those seeking this information in the future to reset their Samsung Security DVR. Also, if you have a reset that you have used and you know works, let us know and we will add it here. I will update the list of Samsung Security DVR resets/recoveries as I encounter them.
So if one of these doesn't work for you, you may want to check back occasionally. In fact, if you leave your model number in the comments and any specifics about your problem, I'll try to get that specific reset for you. For any of these comments, just use the comment section at the bottom of this page - it is checked regularly.
Samsung Security DVR Default Password
For nearly all Samsung Security DVRs, the default password is 4321. If it hasn't been changed since setup, then you can just use that to access the DVR. The default password is included in the reset procedures for completeness. If you have changed your password or access code for your Samsung Security DVR since it was setup, or if you changed it during the initial setup, use that password in place of the default password. The password will be the latest password that was set on the DVR. If no password has ever been set, then it will be the default.

Samsung SHR-1041K. Cannot connect to DVR system "Unknown Error"

Samsung 1041k DVR - Camera Web Server Solutions. ' UNKNOWN ERROR' OR 'CANNOT CONNECT TO SERVER'

Holy Smokes! Can't anyone write a simple solution? The manual totally sucks. It tells you everything except the details that will complete the puzzle. The answers here, so far, are written by gearheads who can't write an easy sentence.
.
1. The user name is case-sensitive. So if you program the DVR with a user name it will only take capital letters by default ... so when entering the user name (USER ID) in the web setup ... It MUST BE CAPITAL LETTERS otherwise you will get an 'unknown error'. There is no mention of this important little fact anywhere....

2. Use Internet Explorer ONLY (becase of old Active X controls), not FireFox, Chrome, or Safari...etc...etc. IE9 doesn't like it either .. just goes white for the most part or flickers ..so IE8 seems to work best.

3: When programming the DVR Box using the MENU button and the 'NETWORK OPTION ...Use Port 6100 in the NET CLIENT PORT. In the WEB SERVER PORT use port 80. The difference is ... port 6100 is used for the basic connection of the network to the DVR device and camera hardware and software ..... and port 80 is for viewing through Internet Explorer. (Port forwarding in the router must direct those ports right back to the IP address of the DVR (whatever you set it to). TCP and UDP together work just fine... not necessarily one or the other . I tried it both ways .. they all work.

4. If you are lucky enough to finally get Internet Explorer to hit the DVR software via the correct IP address and port of the DVR.... then it will prompt you to install the Active X control software embedded in the DVR. You might hae to refresh the screen a couple of times for it to download and install. If indeed it does then you will get a blank box that will wait for you figure out you need to click on a little wrench to configure the DVR connection. Add the DVR (give it a name). Enter the IP address it was configured with .... and set the port to 6100. Remember to capitalize the User Id and put in the password and save .. Completely IGNORE the confusing little matrix boxes that are used for setting up multiple DVRs and cameras. Save the setup, it wil take you back to the blank Samsung box interface and wait till you figure out to hit the connect button in the center. If you did it all correctly then you should connect to the camera views..

4. If you are going to view the cameras from the home network .... then enter the IP address assigned to the DVR PRECEEDED by http:// . Believe it or not it seems to make a difference. If you are viewing from ..say .. your work.. put in the numerical address of your home IP address and if you have the port forwarding set up correctly you will be forwarded directly to the DVR camera software where you can sign in and see the screens.

I have set up many, many IP cameras and various DVRs and software packages professionally.. I must say that this DVR and software is not very intuitive and was very difficult to get past some of the issues. The included instructions were of little help. I hope this helps somebody else.

Can't view my cameras

The DVR will be programmed with an IP Address via the DVR main menu function (network settings) and a valid password. The network viewing software (web viewer) you will need to ensure that the IP address is entered correctly for your DVR along with your valid user password.

Trust the above info is of assistance if you require a manual in order to check your settings try this link http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/samsung/samsung_dvr_product_list.html
