SOURCE: Dishwasher Heating element not working

my wife shut the water off to the dishwasher and forgot to turn it back on and then used the dishwasher.
the heating element went on but there was nop water.
when we turned the water back on,the drying cycle does not work.i would think that the element needs to be changed or is there a relay on the computer board?
this is a two year old Jennair unit.

SOURCE: plastic melted on Dishwasher heating element

youll have to run a whole cycle again and pay attention to when the heating element comes on again. Once its hot the plastic will be soft enough to remove it with a tight cotton rag. Use you oven mitts for protection. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Frigidaire hot water problem

no, i don't think so. the heating element is located under the inside tub and out of the dish area. if you could supply me with the make and model #, I will try and find the exploded view for you. the element is replaceable.

Baking & broiling elements won't heat after baking element burned out and was replaced.

the surge from the original element burning out has destroyed the control board if you can't hear the relays on the board clicking when you power up the elements bake or broil then its either the low voltage side of the board,if you hear clicking then the relays are working but the contacts are burned out and can't pass the current to heat the oven or briol elements

Plastic is melted onto the heating element. is this a problem? what should i do?

I am assuming the dishwasher is not working.

You will need to check where the plastic has come from. The temperature has to be very high for the plastic to melt. This can happen if the dishwasher heater has been on with no water in the dishwasher. Normally the controller should not allow this. Also the thermostat should cut in to prevent the temperature from going high.

Most likely it is not plastic but a problem in the wash pump which is causing some residue to circulate in the water and deposit on heating element.

In any case, try to scrape off as much of the material as you can and then run the dishwasher with a Finish dishwasher cleaning kit. The instructions are on the kit label.

Hope this helps. Please rate the solution.

Dishes are not being cleanrd properly.,there are films on the dishes and stains

There are many probable causes of failure .

A dishwasher's water inlet valve is its most common part to fail. When your dishes are not being fully cleaned, quite often a faulty water inlet valve is to blame. Test your dishwasher's water inlet valve, and if it is no longer functioning as it should, you will have to replace it.

Water temperature is a key element in achieving clean dishes. A dishwasher's heating element is not designed to heat the water that enters it. Rather, the heating element is designed to maintain the heat of the water that enters the dishwasher. Its a good idea to run the hot water in your sink for a couple of minutes before you run the dishwasher. Just to make sure the water is nice and hot before it enters the dishwasher. If the water is unable to stay hot, it can adversely affect your dishwasher's cleaning ability.

There is a filter in your dishwasher. Its function is to keep large particles of food and foreign objects away from the pump. Many of the newly-manufactured dishwashers have self-cleaning filters, and routine cleaning isn't a concern. However, some other dishw ashers need to have the filter removed and cleaned regularly. If the filter or grate is clogged or blocked with debris, it may interfere with the normal functioning of your dishwasher

I ran my dishwasher last night and woke up to a very hot dishwasher. The heating element stayed on. I have a GE GLD6760N10SS and when I close the door the element appears to come back on

This sounds like a bad relay or contactor that feeds power to the element. Opening the door most likely cuts power to the entire system. When the door closes, power is going through a relay that is stuck, allowing power when there should not be any. Follow the power line from the element back to relay that feeds it. Hopefully this will not be your control board. Relays are cheap and easy to replace. Computer boards are not. Good luck

Heating element comes on and stays on when not even called for.

There is a stuck relay or switch somewhere.

The important thing at this point is that you get it turned off!!!

Flip the breaker if you have to, but get it off, as it is a fire hazzard like that.

You can attempt to diagnose the problem yourself if you like and we can help. You will need a multimieter hat can read Volts, amps, and ohms.

If not, disconnect power and call a pro. But whatever you do, get it off ASAP.
