Hello I have a husqvarna YTH22V46 riding mower that doesn't want to move. I have changed drive belt in the spring and it worked fine but now mulching leaves the drive has slowed. I have replaced the belt again but it still moves very slow or not at all. Is it possibly a bad pulley or tension spring?? THANKS

Bleed the air out of the transmission. Pull the lever at the rear of the garden tractor and disengage the transmission. Then fire it up and press forward pedal for ten seconds, then reverse for ten seconds. Do this a total of three times, then re-engage the transmission. I had the problem you did, but after reading you had questionable success changing the belt, I read the freaking manual and saw that you should do this when it's brand new. I figured it couldn't hurt, and voila, I could pull inclines again and go much faster.

SOURCE: Craftsman rotary mower, p/n 917.374821 will not move sometimes.

It is quite possible that one or the other of your pinions (item 55 in parts manual) has gone bad in addition to the wheels. Start the mower, engage the drive and lift the back end just enough to clear the ground and see if both wheels turn. If only one wheel turns, attempt to stop it from turning by setting it on the ground at an angle, if the opposite wheel does not turn, you will need to inspect the pinions.

Did you Call Rural King? They should have someone there that can tell you. They also will fix it if you want them to for a fee. They have very good customer service.

SOURCE: Can a mulching blade work in a non-mulching mower?

True Mulching mowers have a specific deck design to them, but I would say yes to your question. It's been quite a few years, but I have done this little conversion myself - replace regular blade with a mulching blade. Just make sure the mulch blade does fit your mower. Also, use something substantial in terms of strength to close the discharge opening. There can be a good deal of force placed at the opening from flying debris. You'll also want to make the cover removable, so you can mow damp grass without the cover.

SOURCE: gaining access to change a drive belt on mower

the belt cover should have screws with the heads on top of the deck, then there is a guide which keeps the belt in the engine pulley with 2 or 3 bolts you might be able ot get it on the gearbox with just those off and a bit of prying etc.

MY HUSQVARNA YTH24K48 MOWER WILL BARELY MOVE FORWARD OR REVERSE. I CHECKED THE FREEWHEELING MECHANISM AND IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. LOOKING UNDER THE MOWER AS WELL AS I COULD, IT SEEMED FINE.

sounds like the drive belt or belts are worn out. replace both in order for it to work properly .replacing one wont work. replace them as a pair.

Troy-bilt riding mower won't move in forward or reverse

I had a similar problem with my TroyBilt 50 inch zero turn mower. Was cutting grass when it stopped going either forward or backward even though it would start and the PTO would move the cutting blades. Turned out the tensioner spring for the belt that drives the motors near the rear wheels had gone missing. Searched the yard where I had cut and moved the machine but couldn't find it. A new one cost me about $7.50. Put the new one on and it worked fine.

Husqvarna yth2448 riding mower

you probably need to adjust the tension. if you look somwhere near the drive belt then you see a spring. tighten the spring to tighten the belt.
