You have to be carefull what videos you try to play, the processor on the hero isnt very poerfull and will not play a lot of videos, they have to be fairly low resolution (320x480) i dont know what providor you are using, but i would also check for updates tothe android software, version 2.1 was released almost all over the world, and if much more refined. it may help improve performance.

My htc hero seems to have a virus or act like it do

Your phone could just be slow for starters... too many widgets or apps can cause the phone to slow down. Also when you have loads of messages on your phone this makes the phone slow down when going into texting mode.
There are a few things you can try, First of all, go onto the marketplace and download an app called "task killer". Once downloaded this app will give you the ability to close any apps that are running in the background, using up your phones processing and so slowing your phone down.
You could also try deleting your messages and any unwanted apps. Download Uninstaller, from the marketplace for making quick work of that.
Last but for a last resort terms, Go into settings and click Factory reset, this does wipe everything off your phone so make sure you back up your little android. This will be sure to solve any problems or clear any viruses.

HTC hero cannot connect to facebook chat

Turn off Mobile sites only and then use the full site. The browser doesn't format the web page properly. The chat appears about halfway down the page. Its really slow though.

There is not an Android version of Farmville.

You can inquire with the publisher to see if they will be making an Android friendly version anytime soon.

I have a htc hero and i try to watch vidios or movies on line and half the time it tells me to upgrade my flash player. How do i do that? What can i do to watch video trouble free?

Unfortunately you will need to upgrade your flash player, there's no way around it if u want to watch videos online. However you could try downloading the opera mini browser, its free and it generally incorporates the latest version of the flash player. It should allow you to watch virtually any video. Hope it helps

I am copying music from my computer to my hero but i don't see it once it is unmounted

What type of music files are your trying to play through the phone? The HTC Hero can only play the following file types:

MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI and Windows Media® Audio 9

Any other files you will have to convert to one of the previous.

Flash player does not work on htc hero

First off, the version of Flash on the Hero is a stripped-down version. You will not be able to get full-functioning Flash for your phone. That means that a lot of Flash content will not work.

Another thing to check is within the Browser settings. When in your Browser, hit Menu > More > Settings and scroll down and see if Enable plugins is checked off. Turn it on and it will turn on the Flash Light for your phone.

But again, not true Flash on the Hero. They might be coming out with a full version of Flash sometime. I have heard there is something coming.

Certain youtube and other videos from the internet will not play on my HTC Hero. I receive a message "Cannot play video"

Could be a connection problem. If you dont have a strong connection with EVDO youtube will sometimes fail. I was constantly getting the error message but noticed that when i jumped on Wifi with my phone all the youtube videos played in HQ perfectly didnt get the error message once.

Can i download music from widows media player to htc hero

Sure, you could download music from windows media player onto your htc hero, however, most of the time, the music from widows media player includes DRM protection, that prevents illegally duplication and you are unable to play them onto your htc player directly. you have to use some tool to remove drm from wmv files and then put them onto your htc hero.here is a tutorial about how to remove drm from wmv for your reference.
