Chrome keeps freezing every time it loads a page, it will get to the page and will work for 5 seconds. But then it suddenly freezes and is stuck loading and i'm unable to do anything. I just got this tonight. Any ideas?

Go to www.malwarebytes.org and get the free version and run it. Then we will go from there.

It can happen at times. When the processors of the computer are working too hard. Usually you will see it happens when you have many programs opened or many Chrome tabs/pages opened at once.

You need more GHZ to fix this (to make your processors work faster and not have to freeze)

so you run CHROME>?
Chrome has an OS, and operating system and /or
or some run say windows 7 and dont like internet exploder so
run Chrome browsers. (help +about tells you version)
my guesss this PC is old,
second guess, not running IE11 but IE 5 and is hopeless that, so
you run....
third guess old chrome browers is no good too old or corrupted.
no URL of the web site that fails.
most modern web sites do not allow old browers , period.

same thing happens to me - most of the time it will just randomly freeze; occasionally i get an unresponsive black screen. this 24' aluminum imac usually has startup problems also - sometimes it will "gong" and nothing else; sometimes the apple logo will come up and then nothing else; sometimes it will load the logo and then spin for a few seconds and then freeze - the only option is to manually shut down. there is no rhyme or reason to it

You might try a different browser as a test. Here are a couple I use:

Maybe you did not download Chrome directly from Google?
Download the free version of Malwarebytes (Anti-Malware) from https://www.malwarebytes.com/ and install it; then run it (takes an hour or more) to see if it can locate and deal with any malware in your computer. Then uninstall Chrome, reboot. Finally go to https://www.google.com/chrome/ and download genuine Chrome again. Install it, run it. Le's hope it works this time!

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router
