Install ps3 on avr-4306

Can you please help - i am having trouble installing my ps3 onto my 4306.

i have attached a hdmi cable to the ps3 and connected it to a hdmi slot on the 4306 but i do not receive either sound or picture on my tv.

    On the Denon AVR-4306 I have a Tivo Series 3 connected through the HDMI-1. The picture and audio work great. I have connected a PS3 through the HDMI-2 connection. Picture is great but no audio at all. I have had to use the Optical Dig output from the PS3 to the Opt-1 input on the 4306. Is there a way or an update needed to make the PS3 audio come through the HDMI or do I need a different blu-ray player?

PLUG THE STANDARD PS3 CABLE INTO PS3 THEN TO TV GO TO SET MENU FOR PS3 AND SET VIDEO OUT TO HDMI,PICTURE WILL GO OFF SO BE QUICK AND PUT HDMI CABLE INTO PS3 THEN TV,NOW SET AUDIO OUT PUT TO HDMI,THEN CONNECT TO AMP,IF YOU STILL GET NOTHING CHECK AMP SETTINGS IE INPUT SELECTION FOR HDMI.

You need to tell the PS3 to use the HDMI cable output. To test have you tried connecting the PS3 directly to the TV. Once you have that working then add in the AVR.

Hi, You might want to run your ps3's hdmi into your hk, as I'm sure it has hdmi inputs. Using your hk as the audio /visual switcher may resolve this issue-and by the way the hdmi cable has audio built in. I hope this was of some help and thanks for choosing FixYa, good luck Prodzilla.

How can i upgrade denon avr 4306 up to 1080p?
You don't need to upgrade that model as it already supports 1080P. If you are using HDMI connections between the receiver your TV the receiver will upconvert the other analog video sources (composite and component video) to 1080 content. Most likely 1080i as this is the standard format when upconverting.

Hi Jim,
I tried connecting my dvr via component and optical to see if it was my hdmi or my dvr. Ended up being a bad hdmi plug in back of my amp. I was fortunate enough to have both style connections on my dvr. Hope this helps

Can PS3 go to receiver but not to TV if reciever hooks to TV?
Sounds like you just want audio I would just use the optical audio from the PS to the Denon and assign and input and you;ll have PS video and audio on your tv and just audio at the Denon

No component output on AVR-4306
This does not work... You can only upscale the video signal with 4306; meaning you can covert s-video, component video to HDMI but can not down-convert HDMI input (coming from your HD DVD player) to Component video output. Sorry that I could not give you a solution as this is the 4306's limitation (written on the 4306 manual.).

On screen display
Try connecting to the yellow RCA monitor output on the amp and corresponding input on the TV. This works for me. You could also try the composite outputs on the amp. This is one flaw the amp has that the setup screen will not display through the HDMI connection.
