Try this:
Disconnect the printer from the PC. You can plug the printer in to the elec. outlet, but don't turn it on yet. Then, download the software for this printer for the OS that you are using. Get it here:

Install the software. Be patient, follow the directions. Then, after the software is installed, reboot the computer. After the computer is restarted, reconnect the printer to the PC, and then turn on the printer. Windows should see the printer. If it asks you where the driver is, point to the folder where you installed the HP stuff. Or, Windows might find the driver automatically. Good luck.
I am not sure what your problem is with the power problem with the printer, but I might have an idea how you can fix your problem with communication. There is a web site called "DriverSupport.com" that has drivers that work. I must warn you though that they have a charge. If you don't cancel membership, they will charge $9.99 a month. I like the business, so I go ahead and pay the $9.99, as they keep all of my drivers up to date.

Is it the same memory card each time? If so, try with a different memory card.
If it's with all the different cards, verify that there is nothing wrong with the connector that the memory card touches.

Printer status offline means that, the printer driver and the application has been installed, but the printer and it spooler services are idle
To resolve this issue:
Goto control panel, click on printers and faxes, a window will
open showing you all the printers you have or have had. The current
printer will have a checked mark. Highlight it and right click, you
will see printer offline in the box, click it. That will turn the
printer online and you can print.

Please perform the steps below and check
1. Right click on My Computer and go down to Properties.
My Computer is usually on your desktop or in the Windows Start menu. Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the screen.
2. Under the Performance section, click on Settings.
3. Click on the Advanced tab.
4. Under Processor scheduling click on Background Services. Click on Ok then Ok again.
