My emachine t6524 wouldn't wake up the next day after running a norton scan. i had to reboot my computer and it would no longer let me access the internet. Now when I check the drive's properties, my processor and ram are blank. When I check the network status, the computer is identified as unkown.

I would best guess it is a bad hard drive that is an older computer and running a deep scan can finish off a dying hard drive. this is 85 percent the cause of your problem ata best guess. you need to have the internal hard drive tested.

good luck

SOURCE: ip config is not finding my ip address?

No IP address? most likely the network is diable or the network card drive is deleted.
right click on the network icon>>porperties. if you see a network icon then right click on it and enable the network, if not, then the network driver is deleted.
go to control panel>>system>>hardware device, and see if there is a (red X) on the nework card.
go to the vendors website and download the network driver.

good to go!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: my emachine T3624 i bought used, and i cant get norton off of it,

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Norton has a habit of being so good that it interferes with some normal activities. Should you wish to uninstall a Norton product and if at all possible, download and run the Norton Removal Tool. Soon as the Norton Product is un-installed, remove the remaining Symantec folders in Common Shared folders. Thereafter, pls follow below procedures:

  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer.
  2. Delete the program installation folders for all Symantec program that were installed.
  3. If you accepted the defaults, the installation folders will be in C:Program Files and will have the name of the program that you installed.
Below listed are the default program folder names and locations listed by program:
  • C:Program FilesNorton Internet Security
  • C:Program FilesNorton SystemWorks
It would help to configure Windows to show all files.
  • Click on "Windows Key" and select Control Panel
  • Double click on Folder options.
  • Click on View Tab
  • Un-check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
  • Under the "Hidden files" folder, click "Show hidden files and folders."
  • Click on Apply
  • Click on OK.
Having performed the above, search for and delete all Symantec folders.
  1. Click on "Windows Key" and select Computer.
  2. Double click on C Drive
  3. Go to the following locations and delete the following folders.
  • c:Program FilesNorton Internet Security
  • c:Program FilesCommon FilesSymantec Shared
  • C:ProgramDataSymantec
and delete all the 3 folders.

Finish by cleaning up the Registry:

CAUTION: you must back up the registry before you make any changes to it. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify only the keys that are specified.
  • Click Start and then Run.
  • Type REGEDIT into the Run dialog box when it comes up and then click OK.
  • The Registry Editor will open.
  • Navigate to and select the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESymantec

  • Press the Delete key on your keyboard and click Yes to confirm.
  • Navigate to and select the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSymantec

  • Press the Delete key on your keyboard and click Yes to confirm.
  • Click on File in the top toolbar and then click Exit.
  • If the error message is still there, go to Start and search for SymAddln and if found one entry in C:/Users/user name/Favorites/Internet Shortcut and delete it and reboot your computer.
Pls post back results. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: T6524 bios update needed

This isnt necessarily a bios problem mate , its just windows got corrupted during the power surge. Use the link below to do a repair install. Note , repair installs do not erase your personal files or setings or software !

SOURCE: Emachine won't connect to the internet. Ethernet

first try to check if your wireless can actually detect a network, if it can try to remove ALLthe network that you have on your wireless network and try to add your network again, if still doest work try to uninstall and re install your wireless driver, if it still doesnt work try to restart your router, if still doesnt work try to do system restore to the point where your wireless was workin fine, lastly if still doesnt work try to contact your ISP for some configuration.

I purchased this computer, 2 gig memory last year. I had just put in Norton and it is running SUPER slow. How can I reset this computer to run normal? This is not the laptop

I have known several people who have had similar issues with norton, It seems to be quite resource hungry, if you really want to keep norton then I would suggest a RAM upgrade to give your machine more power, alternatively, you could try another antivirus, I use Microsoft Security Essentials and it works well for me.

However, check to see if norton is running a system scan, this will almost definately make your machine run slower.

Have an e machine t6524 that was rebooting itself now it won't boot up at all. Keeps beeping

Hardware fault. Simple test: if you can boot in the BIOS then the hard disk has died - replace it and reinstall. If you can't the the motherboard has failed - in the end it will be easier and cheaper just to get a new pc.

BSOD after power failure during check disk-now I cannot reboot from recovery console or disk. How can I uninstall the OS then reinstall OS from eMachines T6524?

You need to enter the BIOS. immediately upon starting the computer start tapping either the F2 or the tab button. Once in the bios, go to boot order and set the cd/dvd drive as the first boot priority, hard drive second. It is ok to leave this permanently, save and close settings which will reboot the system and considering everything goes as planned you should be able to start up from a disk and then repair or replace XP. When replacing XP remember to delete partition and write a new copy. THIS WILL ERASE ALL INFO ALREADY ON THE HARD DRIVE!!!

Windows Vista has a very decent firewall. Better than norton. The only way to contact a virus is by inviting that virus onto your PC. You would do this by downloading an unknown file from an un-reliable source on the internet i.e nasty **** stuff which claims to be free. Norton Internet security is a rip off. Your machine will run better & just as secure without it. The world needs to wake up to the computer virus conspiracy. For personal computers AV software is pointless.

IO1_Initialization_Failed error on Emachine

Try starting it in Safe Mode (hit F8 key at boot-up). If you see the error "Page_Fault_in_nonpaged_Area stop", you have bad memory usually. If you have 2 memory modules installed, remove one and reboot. If you get the error, remove that memory module and install the other. If it boots cleanly, you have a bad memory module.

Screen resolution changes after rebooting computer

i) my wiser advice would be, just dont mess with this bug try, reload your OS or format your Windows Xp    or reload you OS Freshlly...

before doing this try to run antivirus, spyware scan by using an good security system(such as bit defender from microsoft, norton, avg.....) fully on your complete system(it may longer time but it is safe)

i'm sure that this problem will not persist after this try to purchase an antivirus program to avoid any problems of such type....

Thanking you
