I would like to replace my GE microwave JVM1650AB 002 with a new one. Can you please recommend a comparable "GE" - over the range, vented out model. If possible same color. Thanks for your help in advance.

SOURCE: How to remove the outter door frame on the GE Microwave

I think some of my cleaning solution seeped down in the front door of my microwave and now it has this oranged burned spot in places. It looks like the door is dirty but the residue is actually in between the glass of the door. Any suggestions for what to do? Should I try to take off the door and clean it or buy another door for it?
Thanks! Amanda in Alabama

SOURCE: Size of older GW Microwave

If you want to calculate the volume of an object and have the answer in cubic feet.

Volume=Length X Width X Height
With the dimensions you give
Volume=12.5in X 37in X 20in
Volume=9250 cubic inches

To convert 9250 cubic inches into cubic feet you need to understand that there are 1728 cubic inches in 1 cubic foot.
L X W X H = 12"X12"X12"=1728 cu in

You then multiply 9250cu in and (1/1728cu ft) Really you are dividing 9250 by 1728.
your answer is 5.35 cubic feet.

12 inches in 1 foot
144 square inches in 1 square foot
1728 cubic inches in 1 cubic foot

to convert you put the unit you want to keep on top of the dividend.
to conver to to feet ( randomly selecting 100 inches)
Example converting 100 inches to feet

100inches X ____1ft____ = (100/12) = 8.3 feet
12inches

or cubic inches to cubic feet
4000 cubic inches to cubic feet

4000cu in X ____1cu ft____ = ( 2.33 cu ft)
1728 cu in

if you notice that the units on top and bottom of the dividend cancel each other out leaving the numerator (top number) as your unit.
it also works in reverse

2.33 cu ft X ___1728 cu in____ = (4000 cu in)
1cu ft

SOURCE: GE microwave TURNTABLE slow-erratic and noisy JVM 1860 SD 002

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

SOURCE: ge microwave oven jes1288 light bulb replacement

ba380c4.jpg

The light bulb assembly (bulb and socket are all one piece) is part number
WB36X951.

It is located on the air duct assembly where the door switches are mounted.

You can see an exploded view diagram here.

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb assembly.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

See these links before proceeding:
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

If you're not able to find the bulb assembly at your local appliance parts store, you can order one here.

SOURCE: GE Profile Microwave will not heat

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which part the microwave needs without opening it up for examination. There are a few parts that, if defective, would prevent the oven from heating.

  • a high voltage transformer which passes energy to the magnetron
  • a magnetron which converts high-voltage electric energy to microwave radiation
  • a magnetron control circuit (usually with a microcontroller)
This is NOT a repair that you would want to attempt yourself. The labor for the repair would cost a minimum of $50 and shouldn't exceed $100. You'll also have to pay for the necessary part if it's still available from the manufacture or their parts distributor.

GE Spacemaker arcing?

It is possible, but you heard a similar bang earlier, from the description the magnetron is arcing on a occassion because it is failing, or there is bare metal exposed on the interior. I would recommend getting it checked out to make sure there is no safety hazard and have it resolved.

I have an old GE Microwave jvm240av001 and would like to know the specs so I can replace it. It is so old (1995) I can not find anything on line. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks so much!

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

(trim kit required)

For all newer units the dimesnions are
15 & 3/4" high 16 & 1/2" high hole required for vent connection in rear
15" deep
Needs a 30 inch wide hole for installation

or call GE 1-800-626-2005

Use this link for all models OLD and NEW:
http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature

To get dimensions you look up installation manuals for each model.
Your manual cam up here: (1.51 Mb)
http://www.geappliances.com/search/older-pdfs/49-8621.PDF

Your microwave is not vented externally but your replacement microwave will be capable of being used in a non-external vent and an external vent cofiguration. Personally.... I would recommend the external vent installation. Either will work.

Thanks for choosing FixYa, Kelly

I have a GE Profile Spacemaker Microwave Touch Pad does not work

Sadly, GE does not make individual parts available for these controllers, so they cannot be repaired.

You have to replace the control panel sub-assembly (part number WB07X10733 in your case) and the best price I've found on that is $370.32 here (compared to $483.25 direct from GE).

In my opinion, this does not do much to inspire brand loyalty...

Or you may be able to find a whole oven on eBay for about that or less.

Sorry to bear bad news. Good luck.

Replacing old over-range microwave

Are the grease filters clean?

If you have a charcoal filter, make sure it's not clogged, too. These must be replaced, not cleaned.

In most cases, GE can recommend a "drop-in" replacement oven if you tell them the model number.

They should be able to tell you if larger ones will work in your current slot.

GE microwave (jvm1740dm1bb) - Control panel inop

That model number is not quite right. I'm going to assume it's JVM1740DMBB01.

(If that's not right, please check the tag inside the oven & reply back)

The membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.

The part number you need is WB07X11040 and you can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order this part here for $107.00 (compared to $164.75 from GE!)

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

GE Microwave Profile Spacemaker Runs on its own

Your microwave turning on by itself is a "self preservation feature" of the GE Profile Advantium and maybe some other models. Read the manual, When your over the range oven gets warm enough, for whatever reason the venting fan comes on until a satisfactory oven temperature is reached. You are not permitted to shut the vent fan off. Also it seems a temperature near room temp must be achieved before it shuts the fan motor off, it is very annoying. We had to return our Advantium because of fan noise. I configured the ovens vent fan to the recirculate direction because we do not have a vent duct that exits the house over our range. When the vent fan acting as the ovens cooling fan automatically turned on we would have to leave the house to hear each other talk. Too bad we really liked the oven other than that major problem.
