I had to update my firmware on my Samsung BD-P1500. Followed the instructions on the Samsung Website. Make sure you use ISO Burning SW. I wasted 3 CD-R trying to burn the disk correctly.

It's difficult to tell without seeing it in-person but it appears to be on the main unit, probably on the bottom. Look for the battery cover which will have a phillips head screw. You'll need a screwdriver to remove it and insert the batteries as specified in the instructions.
Have you got the reciept? Or have the people who bought it got the reciept? We bought my son th Toy Story 3 Buzz Lightyear and at xmas, found that the wing was broken. We couldn't do anything about it though because we had bought it a month prior to xmas and was no longer aloud to bring items back. A friend also bought Toy Story 2 Woody and when you pulled his cord, he was missing 2 phrases. I love toy story, but I think they're toys are not so good.
If you haven't got a recipet, then I doubt you could do much. You could try and go back to the shop and explain to them and they might take it off your hands and replace it without a reciept.
I had the same problem. No sound, no music and went to the OPTIONS area while playing and discovered the sound was turned down all the way. I think it was done by my 3 year old. Regardless it took about a month to find this out and multiple internet searches.
I had this problem too. I went to the audio set-up and switched it from 7.1 to 5.1 and the problem was immediately solved. A lot of people have experienced this problem with Toy Story 3 and this particular player.
Have you updated your Blu-Ray player recently? All BD players need to be updated from time to time because of the growing technology of Blu-Ray. Its always been a con of BD players. Best thing to do is have your player connect to the internet. I hope this is the back of your player. Connect your Cat5 (Ethernet cable) to your BD player and than to your router or modem. The port should look like this on the back of your player.
Once you have this connected start your player and it will have a option in the menu to update. Once the update is complete Toy Story 3 and all new BD discs should work. If not, its possible that the disc is bad. More often you just need to update the player.
