Hi! I've got a 3 months old Sony Walkman NWZ-W202 MP3 Player. Couple of days ago I've been faced with a problem, which is: I cannot decrease the volume at all. ( the volume limit function is off, I've formatted the device a few times, and after that procedure, the volume jumps back to level 15. and no more... Did you heard the same problem before?

SOURCE: Sony Walkman NWZ-B105F MP3 wont connect

I first found that when I plugged my player into my computer it registered it as a MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) device and in turn never showed up as a storage device on my computer. I fixed this by going into my Control Panel -> System Icon -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager button.

Clicking on the "System Devices" tab should have "Walkman" or MTP device. Right click on it and go to properties, now before doing anything it should say "Location -- ------ Location 0 (Walkman)" if not try unplugging the walkman and see if the MTP device you're looking at is removed from the list, just to make sure it's the right device we're looking for.

If you've confirmed it's the Walkman, click on the "Driver tab" and click on "Update Driver...". Then click on the "Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced)" option and click "Next". Now select the "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." and click next. It should now bring up 2 driver choices, one being "MTP Device" and the other "USB Mass Storage Device". Select the USB option and select next, it will then install your walkman as a USB storage device and after that's done. It should be a matter of unplugging and plugging the Walkman back in and it should show up on your storage options in "My Computer"

SOURCE: remove write protection on a walkman nwz-s616f

I had the same problem after using this product for a month, suddenly it showed the warning of write protection.

I even contacted the sony customer center but to no avail. their answer was of no help at all. so here is what i did to make it work: 1) First install "QuickTime version 7.2" or later (you can download it from torrent if you are unable to register it, i.e. with a crack) 2) Then install "Windows Media Player 11 " (you can download it from torrent if you are unable to validate it, i.e. if WinXP not original) 3) Now install "Media Manager for WALKMAN" (a compatible software provided by the sony company to interact or communicate with the walkman), freely available for you to download at sony's website.
After the installation, connect the walkman to your computer. Now it should easily add or delete data from you walkman using this software or without it as well.

SOURCE: can't play back video on sony walkman nwz-s616F

Hi everyone, I had this problem with the Sony MP3 players I bought for my kids (NWZ-S615F). There's a new (free) video converter from iWisoft (download.cnet.com or easy-video-converter.com) which does the trick. I looked into the others mentioned here and there were some virus/trojan horse concerns but so far this one seems fine. I downloaded the file, then did a virus scan, then ran the application and did another virus scan. I've used it 10-15 times since then and did another virus scan and nothing comes up so looks good. Choose the output file format as the first option under iPod. If it hangs while doing the conversion, try to run the output file before you get frustrated - I've found that most of the time the conversion was completed before it hung and the video plays fine.

I cannot use my sony walkman nwz-w202 after formating

You MUST re-create the original folder structure (& files) that were in the unit when you bought it. You will not be able to use it until you do.

The easiest way (I've found) is to find a working unit and copy the structure (& files) from the working unit to the non-working unit.

I have audible books on my laptop, but unable to transfer them to my sony walkman nwz - w202. How do I convert them. thanks

MP3 players can only play music files and audio books in mp3 file format. You need to convert your CDs and audio books to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.
