    This
problem is often caused by the shutter door
sticking in the open position. The solenoid that
pulls the door open has a foam pad affixed to
absorb the shock when the door opens. Over time
this pad gets sticky - possibly due to toner
spills. Some remove the pad, I covered mine with
scotch tape. That way the cushion remains but the
door no longer sticks. You can test it by pulling
out the belt assembly. Look inside to the left and
you'll see the black plastic door, about 1/2" high
and 1.25" wide. Lift it from the bottom to get to
the sensor (which may need cleaning - I used a
damp cloth). It you can get the door to stick
open, then it's likely you found the problem. It's
no big deal to disassemble it from the rear. Just
take out the solenoid and cover it with about 1/2"
by 1/2" of tape. Reassemble the solenoid in such a
way that it pinches the tape so as to keep it from
coming off (the stickup on that tape isn't very
strong). The door should no longer be able to
remain stuck in the open position. If that doesn't
do it you probably have a bad board or solenoid.
I'll bet this is the problem 90% of the time.

Print unable 32

This is not just a density sensor, this is a plastic cover over it that is getting stuck. There is a piece of soft rubber attached to the solenoid that is getting very sticky over time. Removing this rubber and stretching solenoid return spring corrects the issue. Search web for the service manual and follow chapter 8 to disassemble the printer correctly - takes less than 10 minutes to do it

Hi I have Brother dcp 350 printer. I have the error 46 unable to print/clean i cant get the printer back to normal functions. I have change the inks (all) and I am still get the same error message 46....

The messages unable to print, unable to clean, unable 36, error 46 and error 32 are all print head errors.

1. Remove all the ink cartridges from the machine
2. Clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the machine itself with a small amount of warm water or alcohol on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swab.

Note: if any of the other cartridges are low, empty, leaking or bulging replace them

3. Then turn off the machine and unplug it for 70 seconds
4. Plug it back it and wait for the insert cartridges message
5. Insert the cartridges and check to see if the problem is still there. If it is it means the print head has failed and in order to fix this the print head inside the printer needs to be replaced. The print head is the part of the printer that puts ink from the cartridges onto the page

Unfortunately this can sometimes cost more to replace then the machine itself.
