Just installed 2 2GB cards (Corsair VS2GB800D2) to replace the 1 1GB card in my emachines EL1200 series. Computer will not boot. replaced the old card and it booted right up.

This model only has 1 PCI express 1x slot. So any sound card that uses a PCIe 1x slot. Just google "audio card pcie 1x". This computer has built-in sound so not sure why you want another card.

Try another monitor, reseat ALL monitor cables .If you have a Graphics Card, shut down computer, unplug and reseat Graphics Card.

I don't recommend upgrading the computer's RAM because this computer only supports up to 2Gb at max, if you upgrade it to 4Gigs (2pcs 2Gb), the machine may not boot up at all.

You need a PCI video card
If you go to your local computer store and tell them you have PCI slots but not AGP or PCI Express then they might be able to recommend something.
If you want to be able to use a higher end video card I'm afraid you're going to have to upgrade to a newer computer.

Hello. Now these type of computers have been known to have the sound go out on them. What you can do is get a soundcard and install it. Then run your speakers off of the sound card.

What triggered the problem? do you know? did you recently change anything? install any new programs? etc.
Do you get any error messages? Do you see the windows loading screen and then it just reboots again?

Try this first: HIt F8 when it is trying to boot, and if you get to select boot using Last Known Good settings. See if that helps. If not we can try something more advanced.

From specifications of eMachines Support, it looks like you just have
one - PCI-Express x1 slot, that is open. (Unused)

A PCI-Express x1 slot is small in length. It has 36 contact pins. 18 on each side.

(Not to be confused with a PCI-Express x16 slot. This slot is long, and has 164 contact pins. 82 on each side. Used for graphics cards only)

If this is so, you need a dial-up modem adapter card, that will fit a PCI-Express x1 slot, and is a low profile card.
