SOURCE: How do you reset the samsung NP-NC10 netbook to

If you have only used Windows and associated programs, (Not loaded Linux or other OS types)...
Just start your computer and hold your finger near the [F4] button -
as soon as the Samsung screen pops up click that button.
The Recovery screen will show, choose Restore, then Complete Restore
the program completely deletes the C; Drive and reloads Windows and the other programs - same as it was the very first time it was set up.
Note. If it was set up as C: and D: drives (one of the initial choices which you do not get during Restore) - this Restoration DOES NOT TOUCH or HARM any of the Files/Folders on the D: Drive...
So, If you're Restoring to sell - Go to My Computer Right Click the D: Drive and Choose FORMAT - you'll get a warning about files being deleted/losing all data - but that's what you want - go ahead and click OK.
IF you're doing it because Windows crashed and burned - It's OK; all the stuff will still be there on the D: Drive...
Cheers.

The Samsung NC10 can boot from a USB memory stick - you may have to press the F12 key to select to boot from USB rather than the internal disk drive....If you go to http://www.avg.com/gb-en/avg-rescue-cd you can download a copy of the AVG Rescue CD which comes in 2 versions, one for CD and one for USB - download the USB version and follow the instructions on the AVG web site for how to put this on the USB memory stick.....Boot the netbook from the AVG USB memory stick and use that to help remove the virus infection.

Want to restore to factory settings?

After some research, it appears that you may have been supplied with recovery media, which would require you to attach an external CD drive. Or there is a function call Samsung Recovery solution. If this is supplied with our computer, you may have a partition on your hard drive that will restore you computer to factory settings. Unfortunately, I cannot locate the exact instructions to access the Samsung Recovery Solution. Are you familiar with this utility? I have attached a internet link to a page to download your user manual. You will find the download links for either Windows XP or windows 7 on the lower part of the page that loads from this link.

I hope that you find this helpful. Without more detail about your particular set up, it is hard to be more specific.

How to fix samsung nc10 hal.dll problem

Windows 2000 and XP have a recovery console. You manually restore the hall.dll. Here is the exact procedure:
1. Insert the Windows CD and start the computer
2. When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R
3. Type a number corresponding to the Windows installation you wish to repair (usually 1) and press Enter
4. When prompted, type the administrator password and press Enter.
5. Enter the following (assuming the you O.S. is installed on partition C:):
ATTRIB -H -R -S C:\BOOT.INI
DEL C:\BOOT.INI
BOOTCFG /REBUILD FIXBOOT

6. Exit the console, remove the disc and restart your computer.

Or you can always reinstall the operating system.
After that you could make a recovery image and use the image to reinstall. Here is a link:http://www.fixya.com/support/r4213055-quickly_reinstall_operating_system .

Hard drive stoped working nowdisplay will not come on

Yes, without a working disk-drive, your computer has become a paper-weight. Take your computer, and the set of "System Restore" CD-ROMs that came with your computer, to a computer-store. They will install a new disk-drive, and re-install Windows.

Sound like your hard drive has crashed so bad that the notebook does not even know it is there. I would replace the hard drive and try to reinstall from external cd-rom . Make sure the external cd-rom is recognized in the bios settings Good Luck

Samsung nc10

Hello,

You may want to check the drives for any disk. If you find any remove them and restart. If this doesn't correct the issue, it could mean that your hard drive is bad or going bad.

About the only option you have is to try a factory restore by visiting here.

NOTE: These options will restore the machine back to initial status. You will lose all personal data that hasn't been backed up. Also. since you aren't able to start Windows, you will need to try this option.

Note: If you are unable to load Windows, you can still run Samsung Recovery Solution by holding the F4 when powering on the computer.
