When I put in a CD an error comes up that reads TOC ERR. I believe it is the toble of contents not being read. Does anyone have a quick fix without having to bring it into a shop
Every one of those Kenwoods that I have fixed with that error needed the laser pick up replaced. so there is no easy fix for it.
If you have tried several disc's and they all have a TOC err, and you know the disc's are in decent condition, then you will need the pick up replaced.
First try cleaning the disc you are using. I use windex and a soft cloth like a bath towel, it works great at getting fingerprints and other stuff off the disc without scratching the disc. A bad fingerprint or a bad scratch right at the innermost part of the disc (where the TOC is located) will cause any CD player to not read the TOC, producing a TOC ERROR. you never know, you might get lucky.
I've got a MP242 I just bought from eBay that worked well for a second then the CD player started giving the TOC ERR. Where can I buy the lens module? I'm familiar with repairing electronics. Is it expensive?
I just bought a MP242 from eBay. Worked well for a second then started displaying the TOC ERR. How much is the optical pickup module and where online can I buy it? I'm familiar with replacing parts with electronics.
