I have the drop in Jade 5 burner cooktop. for the first time, I noticed a significant gas smell when I light any of the burners. we cant figure out the problem since the cootkop is functioning fine, but smells like gas as soon as we light it. The gas lines dont smell. It only smells when we light the burners? Any help is much appreciated. Anyone have the same issues?

first, disable power to cooktop. next, replace either the mangled burner or the entire unit (after initial inspection leads to a logical prognosis)...sorry.

Gas is taking too long to ignite. Make sure the burner rings are installed properly. They have grooves that need to line up. Also make sure all the holes are clean.

I would say that pop was one of you igniters.  either that or the stove is not installed correctly and when it gets warm, thermal expansion makes the metal pop.  I would say that I would use caution and discontinue its use.  Most problems with these need to fixed professionally.

Check with an apliance parts store they may have an alternate for you.
