All vertical perimeters in service mode .

hot-replace and solder all leads to smt transformer.set should power up.also flyback may have shorted.rca has a repair kit for this set. all necessary parts.

Bad cap forgot uf 160v 250v

Try the POWER ON button on the top of the TV?

Check for a bad connection on L14401(coil) Re solder even if the connection looks good. This could cause an intermittant on and off on that model. Hope this helps you.

Most RCA repairs on your chassis series require a new IHVT,
AKA flyback transformer . Inside an Integrated HVT are diodes
that can degrade and give the appearance of a bad cap....
Of course, you should check the electrolytics with an ESR
meter, just in case....

Followed Terryfic's solution. I am a DIYer and managed to order the part, desolder the old one and solder in the new one. However, when I turned it back on I got a black screen with sound. Hmmm, saw the adjustment screws but was hesitant. Ended up turning about 10 degrees one way and presto chango... Saved a $1200 upgrade to HD for a $30 part! Thanks

Hi, It sounds like your TV has a Pincushion problem based on your post/description. There is a big chance that this is just a colder solder/loose connection but of course an on-site diagnosis would be better. Since this involve opening the unit and working on the electronics inside, I would suggest that you seek the services of a qualified TV professional.
