Recognises my wifi but still can't connect tom safari/youtube etc
I FIXED MINE THIS MORNING!!!
try this! If your iTouch says you are connected to your network but you can't surf and you've been able to connect in the past...you have to reset your network connections on your iTouch.
Go to Settings
Go to General
Go down to Reset
Go to Reset Network Settings
It will ask for your iTouch Passcode...enter it
Then, hit the red "Reset Network Settings"
After that, go back to "Wi-Fi" in Settings...
...and connect to your network again. It might ask you for your WEP password, if it does, enter it.
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS fields should now have entries in them.
Surf Away!!

Okay. Heres what you do. It works I promise!
1. Go to settings
2. Turn off WIFI connection
3. Hold down the power button until it says slide to power off
4. Turn it off
5. Once its off click the home button and while still holding down the home button plug it into itunes.
6. It will say something on your itunes page. Click okay. Then your ipod will go black.
7. Wait and then when it comes back on connect to the internet again
if it doesnt work try reseting your ipod touch

Okay here is what you REALLY have to do!!!!
go to google
type in "wirelesskeyview download" into the search engine
click on the first link that it shows and download it.
it's completely free and VERY helpful!
its a very short download, extract the file and put it somewhere where you won't lose it because it won't show up in your start menu.
This doesn't require any installation.
Go to where you placed the file and open it.
click on the application and it will ask you to allow/cancel the program.
your network should show automatically and WEP will show next to it in the hex column.
type what you see in the hex AS the network's password on your itouch
It worked for me!!!!!
Dumb question, but did you put in the security code of your network if it is locked? In settings, wifi networks. Seems like I had to do that.
Ive tried all of the solotions
I had same problem. Took it back to Best Buy and they could not connect to their WiFi. Conclusion--bad wireless card. Got money back because they had no replacement. Bought new one at Wal-Mart. It worked perfectly. Solution is do not putz around; return for one with wireless card that works.
Hi my ipod touch says that it is fully connected and when i go on safari it says that it cannot connect. iv tried turning my router off, restoering my ipod, restoring all the setting n when i go to my mums it works fine my mums internet it netgear im really angry because it worked for a month now and now theres no interenet!! help!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
If you have a Linksys router this worked for me. Go to Settings on your ITouch; Wi-Fi; Other; Security; WPA; Go back to Other Network; Type in your network Name at the top (for example mine is GSI); then go down to Password and type in the Personal Key found on the Linksys page after you logged in with your password. Once I was on the correct page I went to Wireless and then Wireless Security and you will see the Personal Key about five tabs down.

I know this sounds stupid and obvious, but make sure your putting in the passcode to the wireless internet correctly, and if you are then try them in CAPS.
i know it sounds obvious but that was all my itouch needed, plus another solution is when you click on the blue arrow next to your chosen network, then look under ip address MAKE SURE THAT DHCP IS HIGHLIGHTED!
Hi I had the same problem. My sons I touch had always connected to internet no problem until last night. It seems its been a common problem. Its Fixed now.
What I did-
1-SETTING
2- WI-FI
3. CLI8CK ON YOUR WI-FI CONNECTION ON THE ARROW TO THE LEFT.
4.FORGET THIS NETWORK
5. DISCONNECT ROUTER AND UNPLUG
6.RE-CONNECT ROUTER
7.SETTINGS
8- WIFI
9-CLICK ON YOUR WI-FI
10. under IP address click on STATIC
11. then I copied all the number details off my other iphone in the wi-fi settings ip address & Subnet Mask,& Router & DNS & Search domains
12 Go back to main screen by pressing your main button at bottom of phone.
This worked for me and was better than resetting all settings and my sone loosing his progress in games etc. Good luck!!
Go to settings... and view the connection... select the little arrow to the right of the name of the connection.. and select "forget this connection" turn the wifi off... then back on.. and connect back on the network and it should work. it fixed my mine. i had the same issue. goodluck
Hey my IPOD willnt connect to the internet it kicked me off and when i went to go back on it said something like unable to connect and stuff i trided reset it but it didnt work should i just see if i can retun it LET ME KNOW!!!!!!! Thanks

Ok..so next to the wifi you connected, there's a little blue arrow button and press dat button...after dat, go down and you will see renew lease and press dat...dats how i got mine..hope it worked :)
Okay so i just bought and i touch from a friend and went home and 'connected' to the WiFi but ounce i went to safari it wouldn't bring anything up it keeps saying 'safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet'.....ive tried almost everything-_- i restored the thing, did the whole reseting the network connections and neither of those things work...I mainly baught this ipod for the internet capabilites and am super sad that it not working....PLEASE HELP!!!

The internet used to work but now it has stopped:( i have tried mostly everything, but to b ehonest i am horrible with computers and ipods.. can someone tell me after you click the little blue arrow and this all pops up: IP address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS, Search domains, and client id... whats suppose to go there? am i suppose to enter stuff for each of those? and if so, where do u find all of tht information??!
I compared my ip address and subnet mask with my dad's iphone and its totally different,on my dad's phone the internet works but for my itouch it doesn't
HELP PLEASE, I have to hold my 1st gen ipod right next to my router, touching ipod to router, in order to get a connection, if i pull the ipod even 6 inches away from my router the connection stops. Someone please help..... thanks

Omg this is so annoying. I'm connected to my household WPA2 wireless network. The iPod says I'm connected, I have 4 signal bars. But when I try Safari, it says "Safari can't open the page because it is not connected to the Internet". But I am. My other computers work great. I've never had this problem before on the iPod and I have no idea what caused it or how to fix it.

I can put in my wireless router information and password and then it says I am connected but nothing works. My laptop is connected so I know it's not the router. It only worked this weekend and hasn't worked since.

Ive been doing a search on this topic.many people have the same problem.and not many solutions.well none to be specific.i have the same problem.it shows that im connected but when i try to go on safari.or youtube.etc it says cannot open page.because internet is not connected.when in fact at the top of my touch it shows a full internet connection.this is a pain in the a$$.anyone know what i can do to fix it.or have an idea what it can probly be

I can't connect to my wifi. I tried to reset it, but it still says (unable to join to the network). I have been on it before, and I can use the same wifi on my brothers i touch. So I know the password and service is fine. That means the problem lies with my i touch. Help me please!
mine connects for aout 15 seconds then disconnects but even while it says its connected i cant get onto safari.
have westell 327 and can not get it to connect to itouch. itouch sees the name of my network, but when itouch asks for a password I don't know what password to use. I tried the administative/user name I used when I installed westell 327 but no luck. What password should I be using -- where will I find it?
When I try to connect, they ask me for the password, I type it in perfectly respecting the capital letters and all but it just won't connect...What can I do ???

OMG i was watching a youtube video when my internet stopped working and i was freaking out because it's my dad's network i connected to plus he let me through the mac filter and only today did this happen and it just stopped working and i tried to renew lease and everything but i was connected but when i went to something online it said i was not connected to the internet like the app store and i was like wtf man im connected right now and i kept checking my settings and going through everything i could to figure out the problem but nothing was working. I mean MY COMPUTER WAS ABLE TO CONNECT BUT MY ITOUCH COULDNT... big WTF right there. CAN SOMEONE HELP MA SITUATION
