Hi Good day!! i hope this method will help you

1. Find the manual for your cable or DSL modem. Although the basics of these types of modems are the same it never hurts to have the manual available for the particular piece of hardware that you are going to be dealing with.

2. Look up what the procedure is to reset or reboot the modem. They will list what the procedure is for performing a reboot or reset of the modem.

3. Turn off the computer if you have no manual and need to perform a reboot or reset of the modem. It is best that the connection to your computer is severed before you change anything on your modem.

4. Look at the back of the modem. There should be a tiny button or hole in the back of the modem that will be labeled reset. Typically these button need to be pressed for a minimum of 10 seconds to reset the modem. This will reset the modem to factory defaults. You will need to reset options just as if it was a brand new modem being installed.

5. Press and hold the button down for one minute. This will make sure that it has a chance to reset. You will need a small pin to put through the hole. Usually you can straighten one leg of a paperclip and this will work for the tool you need. Just beneath the surface of the back of the modem there should be a small push button that you can depress with the paperclip.

6. Allow the modem to reset itself and then remove the power plug in the back of the modem. Keep the power off for at least one minute and then return the power plug to the back of the modem and wait for all the lights on the front of the modem to come back on and stop flashing.

7. Restart your computer and check that all the options are set correctly on your modem. You may need to call your Internet provider and check which settings need to be changed from the factory defaults. They can walk you through how to make these changes. After this, your connection should be back and you can reach the Internet.

How to reset password for motorola surfboard cable modem sb6141

There is no password on the SB6141.
There are no user configurable options. Any configuration is changed through communication with the CMTS.

When you access the modem (192.168.100.1) all you can do is monitor the signal quality and certain log entries.

NOTE: the "configuration" page allows you to reset the factory defaults and to restart the modem. IF you reset factory defaults this note applies:

Resetting the cable modem to its factory default configuration will remove all stored parameters learned by the cable modem during prior initializations. The process to get back online from a factory default condition could take from 5 to 30 minutes. Please reference the cable modem User Guide for details on the power up sequence.

if you've changed these before and cant remember it, then you have to reset the modem to its default factory settings. Look on the back of your router. There should be a small hole that only a sharpened pencil or pen tip will fit in. There is a button inside that hole. Press and hold it in for about 15secs. Your modem /router will reset to the factory defaults.

I want to use the wi-fi setting on my DS but I forgot my wepkey, how do I fix that?

- Find your WEP key for your Modem/Router, or reset it to default settings.

- If it's a Wireless Modem, the WEP pass phrase is generically on the side of the modem.

- There is a reset button on the back of most router's and modems. Press and hold that switch (with a pen or a paperclip) for 10-30 seconds to reset all the settings to factory default.

- To access the modem's administration page to re-enter a new go to;
- 192.168.2.1 (Modems)
- 192.168.0.1 (DLink Routers)
- 192.168.1.1 (Linksys Routers)
(For more information on your individual Modem/Router, Please view the manufacturer's website.)

How i can re-set factory default for Thomson TG585. i can't set up a user id and password for my net connection.

You can reset Thomson TG585 by pressing the reset button located at the back of the modem for few seconds while the modem is power on. The LEDs at the front would blink and the modem will restart with factory defaults setting.

I cant remember my login info for the surfboard modem site (http://192.168.100.1/index.asp)... am i screwed??

not really....

the default for your modem is
192.168.0.1
username: admin
password :motorola

try logging with this first. if this doesn't work then you will have to do manual hard reset of router for default factory settings through either a reset button/pinhole on the back of router and holding it for at least 5 secs but be aware that it will wipe all internet settings and will have to be configured again.. if you don't know how to do that then not recommended to do hard reset. better call isp guys.

I can not find the PIN number for the router. It

Hi there... I dont get wat you mean by PIN... Is it WEP key your refering too? Well as you said it is supposedly the 10 digits on the modem.. If your unable to connect, then the possibilities are that the modems default wep key has been changed. To reset this key you will have to access the gateway thru

192.168.1.254 or gateway.2wire.net - click on wireless settings and from there scroll down and you will be able to see the buttons where it is marked as use default encryption key or use custom key passphrase. Click on use default encrpytion key , scroll down and click save settings. Now note at this point of time when you click save , whichever wireless devices which were or could connect to the modem when it was in " use custom key passphrase" cant be connected anymore. All the devices must be reconfigured to the default wep key which can be found on your modem which is a 10 digit n numbers.

2nd choice.
You access the modems gateway page to reset the whole modem to factory default
Go to the http://gateway.2wire.net/mdc and you will be prompted for password. By default its 2wire. Once you have accesses in it, scroll down till you see Troubleshooting - then you can see resets. click on it and at the bottom you will see a radio button RESET - Resets your 2wire gateway to factory default. CLick on the reset, your modems power light will change to orange led after 3 secs from your click. and the orange led will be there for ard 10-15 secs. And your modem will boot back. And now its factory default. You need to do the necessary configurations depending on your ISP.

3rd choice

Reset button behind modem
Click the red reset button behind the modem and hold for 15 secs, the modem will be restored to factory default.

Pls note : I will not hold responsibility if any mishaps happens during this operation. All the above is done on YOUR SOLE RESPONSIBILITY. Thank you.

To remove all the settings of the used modem router, most modem has a reset button and need a paper clip end to press it. If you want to reset the modem to factory default, most likely you:
  1. having power on the modem, press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds (or until lights on front starts blinking)
  2. this is most common practise in programming the modem chips.
If that doesn't do, try:
  1. unplug power cord of the modem
  2. press and hold the reset button
  3. plug in the power cord
  4. wait for about 5 seconds then release reset button
If still not able to reset it to factory default, ring the manufacturer's Tech support and get them to help you "reset the modem to factory default".
Good luck!
