I have two deckhand anchor units. I ve tested both on battery, and both went up. I replaced switches, and I get nothing, but I heard a light click coming from unit. Is the motor bad?
Did you try to check the interrupter. I had a similar problem when then i took a flat head screwdriver and pushed the interrupter towards the bow of the boat (towards the anchor and spring) and it worked properly. At least until the next drop in which I needed to reset the interrupter again. I am not sure why there is an auto stop for lowering the anchor when resistance is low, I believe the unit should have an auto stop for too much drag when raising the unit. That would make sense to me for if the anchor is attempting to enter the deckhand housing and doesnt stop to prevent the anchor from breaking the deckhand or if there is a HUGE snag with attempting to raise the anchor and the anchor is too stuck on the bottom to prevent the boat from undergoing too much stress from a unretrievable anchor.
I have a new deck hand 40 and it'll go down but won't come up so I got another switch (the one by the spring) I thought was bad but still same outcome. I thought about hooking it up backwards to see if both switches could be bad. I've had this issue before on an old one just can't remember how I fixed it.
You can drop anchor in every bay around St. John except for Cruz Bay because there is heavy traffic there due to the ferries coming in and out. However, it is important to note that you can only do so for a number of hours and not overnight without paying a small fee. This is because they are national parks that the island is trying to keep less crowded. By charging a small fee, it keeps the traffic in these bays down.
