Nikon D2X - How do you lower the mirror if it gets locked up by mistake ? Had an err message on the upper view screen, tried the repair from this site, by tapping the front leftside of camera front and side of attached lens with the fleshy palm of my hand gently to release a locked lens. It cleared the err message but now mirror has locked up and I can't get it to release so I only see black when looking through view finder. Looked through rear menu options but got nowhere. ANY IDEAS ? thanks Al x

Normally, you can manually lock-up the mirror for the purpose of cleaning the sensor. To do this, you need to connect the camera to the optional EH-6 AC adapter. If after removing the lens and inspecting the mirror, you cannot gently nudge it back down (do not touch it...use a cotton swab) then you'll need access to the EH-6. If you don't have one, possibly a camera store near you would have one and be willing to let you plug in your camera so you could try to access the mirror lock-up function in the set-up menu.

Hi your unit has stuck in middle of mirror box mechanism sequence. You have to bring to local repair shop. they can handle it. They would charge around $45 to 135 depend on what they really want to charge. Thanks and best regard!

Nikon F100 does not advance film to start of roll,

Jim, it really sounds like one of threethings. Either will require a repair shop.
1. the film sensor is not recognizing film in the film chamber, or film across the back, therefore not telling the advance motor to advance film...
2. The film advance motor itself needs replaced.
3. The rear door latch switch needs replaced.
Since everything else seems to do OK, I doubt the main computer board is bad.

Unable to take picture

I don't know if there is a mirror lock up button on this camera or not. Some have it for slow exposes. Nikon does have a technical phone number or place on their website to contact them. I had a D100 that had the ERR message show up on it, and it cost $400 to repair. But look for the mirror lock button.

My Nikon D2x is having shutter problems, HELP!

the only time i have ever seen this on my D2x is when the lens isnt snapped all the way on. but since you have tried several lenses, i am sure they are snapped on. this leads me to believe something is wrong with one of the contacts on the camera where the lens snaps on--check them to be sure they are springing out and clean. check the owners manual to see if there is another cause for this message.

Apperture on Nikon d2x doesn't close after 3.5-4.5

You need to "lock" the lens at the smallest aperature. With the lens removed from the camera, rotate the ring to the smallest aperture, which is the largest number (like 16 or 22). Next to that number you will see a small slide switch. Move that switch. It loocks that ring at that setting.

Remount the lens and try.

View Live Images?

You can't view live images on the monitor; the D2X does not have a Live View capability. A suitable version of Nikon Camera Control Pro may allow you to connect the D2X to a computer.
