Cable plug possible defective, if possible plug into another computer and see if error occurs. since you did not state OS go into the Device Manager and insure 'network adapter' has driver installed and working. Is there an external media hooked up?

HI there,
The "Error" texts saying:
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
Are completely normal. This simply states that there is no external cables plugged into the specialty inputs on your toshiba laptop.

The "operating system not found" is stating that your existing hard drive is either A) dead or B) been erased.

Try to re-install your operating system, if it finds no hard drive, you'll need a new one!

System Restore

It seems that your computer is not booting from DVD-ROM drive nor hard disk, but is trying to establish a network setup of the operating system.

You have to go to BIOS settings and correct these preferences by making your hard disk the first boot device. Of course that would be a solution if you have operating system installed on it. If there is no operating system installed on the hard disk, you will need to install it. In this case, your first boo device would DVD-ROM or CD-ROM, whichever available.

When you get this error, it is because the notebook is trying to boot from a server or from a network, which unfortunately means that your hd took a bath. When you start up your notebook, do you hear the hd spinning up? Do you see the icon on the front of the notebook for the hd light up? If you answer no to both of those questions, you will need a new hard drive.

Problem

I’m almost positive that you have a bad hard drive. PXE means Pre-Boot Execution Environment.
If you didn’t see the PXE-E61 message before, it means that the network card was listed after the hard drive in the boot order (you can set the order in BIOS) to start your system from harddisk.

when the hard drive has failed, the system cannot detect it and tries to boot from the next available device – the network card. Your system is not configured to boot from a remote server using the network card, that’s why you are getting PXE-E61 Media test failure error. You have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
