I have a new ES-LA93 razor which I love but I have one question. After shaving I press the [SELECT] button to choose Clean/Dry/Charge. The process finishes and all seems fine but the CLEAN and DRY course selection indicators flash repeatedly. There is nothing in the manual which mentions if this is normal or significant of a problem. The manual goes into detail about the significance of the various states of the STATUS light and this has nothing to do with the STATUS light. I called the toll free technical support line and spoke to someone who felt my new razor was defective and she suggested I return it for replacement. I DO NOT want a refurbished razor and I don't think anything is wrong with my razor. This blinking will stop if I remove the razor from the charger and replace it. The water level, water container installation and cleaning cartridge installation are all as they should be. This is not my first Panasonic self-cleaning shaver system and I do understand the device except for this one aspect on the new ES-LA93. If I had a criticism of the Panasonic shavers/cleaning units it is the constant blinking of the display(s) during charging. Put simply it is annoying and unnecessary. With that exception the shavers are terrific. Please tell me that the blinking is not significant of anything other than the Panasonic designer's love of flashing displays.

If you clean the razor every day, the CLEAN and DRY lights flash repeatedly to show you that the cleaning has completed. You should be able to confirm that this is correct by NOT cleaning it one day. You should see that those lights don't flash then. I know this because I clean the razor twice a week rather than every day. On the days that I clean it, the lights flash. On the days that I don't clean it, the lights don't flash.

How do i change the battery in panasonic es-rt51 electric shaver

Panasonic ES-RT51 battery problems?
If your razor battery runs down after only a few shaves e.g jumps from 60% to zero Let the razor completely discharge by leaving it switched on until the blades stop moving completely. (This can take over 24 hours so be patient) When they are stop moving recharge the battery and you will find the battery will charge and discharge just like new!
(This may take a couple of discharge cycles). Only charge the battery when it is flat after this and the problem SHOULD not reoccur.

How to use an electric shaver

If you are a using an electric shaver for the first time, I hope that this article will get you going. Proper techniques will ensure the best, closest shave possible. Maintaining the razor by properly cleaning and recharging it will also ensure that the razor works correctly and does not malfunction during use. Proper care and maintenance of the electric razor will also ensure that the razor will last for years to come. Consider this article as a shaving-best-practices template for your first electric shaver.

Firstly, clean your face and dry it. Electric shavers do a better job when your face is clean. Turn the electric razor on and begin shaving against the direction of hair growth, moving the shaving head linearly and in circles. Circular motion Stretch the skin with your other hand to make the hair stand up straighter so the razor blades shave closer.

After shaving, turn it off and rinse the cutting heads under warm water. You can also use jet clean system once a week to clean your shaver. Make sure that you charge it for the time specified in user manual. Overcharging may cause damage to the battery.

Make single edge razor blades shaves smoother and last longer!

If you shave with a single edge blade, add a few drops of liquid soap onto the Hot blade edge,"Before you shave." After shaving and before storing, Rinse and clean the razor with hot water and shake dry!
It will be good for many, many shaves.

What are the causes of razor burns?

The main things that cause razor burns are if you dry shave, shave without adequate cream or gel, or shave too hard or too fast, your skin will likely show some irritation which will eventually become a razor burn.

I bought my husband a new senso touch razor i would like to know how they rate with other shavers also are they hard to clean

Hi cuke693,

I work for Philips Consumer Lifestyle and received a Senso Touch 1180X/40 for free as part of a Home Test. I have never been a fan of electric razors because of incredibly sensitive skin and fast growing facial hair. I do however, use the Senso Touch 1180X/40 in between shaves with a manual razor, and I am very happy with it. It doesn't irritate my skin, the shave is very close, and use/care is easy and ideal. I also like the fact I can use it safely and comfortably in the shower, too.

Depending on the model you have, you can find great resources at www.philips.com/support. Just enter the specific model number to access the product specific page which includes FAQ's, manuals, videos, chat, etc. (http://ow.ly/6j6O2)

As for cleaning, these are the instructions for the 1180X/40 (again, for model specific information, visit the above website):

Regular cleaning is important to maintain an optimal shaving result.

1. Turn the shaver on.
2. Rinse the shaving unit under a hot tap.
3. Pull the top part of the shaving unit from the bottom part.
4. Rinse the bottom and top part under a hot tap for 30 seconds.
5. Reassemble the shaving unit and carefully shake off excess water. Let the shaving unit dry completely.
