When I shoot video and the camera is still I get a perfect picture, but when I move the camera around one side of the image records distorted. Tried cleaning heads but did not work

blurry can be due to out of focus or camera shake are the most common if you are in video mode try turning off Auto focus and using manual or the other way around , next if the image is blurry while in close up mode when does the image become clear again ? what adjustments are necessary to get a sharp image ? moving the camera further away ? change settings ? add more light ? does your camera have a setting called MACRO ? It seems your device has the capabilities to shoot clear video close up so let me know if anything I have suggested worked or was of no help .

Sound like a problem with the CCD sensor; this isn't a job that you could solve yourself. Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value.

If this defect occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD correctly when in shooting mode, which results in symptoms like the following in captured images. These symptoms can be confirmed on the LCD monitor. The same symptoms may also occur in recorded images.

* images appear distorted

A problem has been discovered in some of the CCDs used in Panasonic, Fuji, Sony and Canon digital camera and digital video camera products that causes images to appear distorted or not to appear at all. Along with our respectful apology, we would like to advise our customers of the details of this issue and our policy for handling it, which are as follows.

The Malfunction:
Among the CCDs used in the affected products listed above, it has been confirmed that, especially under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, the internal wiring may come undone in some places.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; this, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

I had a Finepix camera and on it was a feature for image stabilising. On the display it showed a hand. Have a look for it on the menu

i'm guessing it's the cable.

This is normal. It may be distracting, but what it is is light. If you notice, it happens when there are bright spots, lights, reflections. These distortions will show up in video so try to avoid aiming at bright things while in video mode. Another type of flicker will happen mostly in florescent light.

Before CCD image sensors, video camera used tubes and aiming them at the sun or bright objects would burn the tubes permanently so cameras have come a long way, but by the nature of cameras being devices that record light, it is hard to eliminate that effect altogether (similar to red eye...just can't be a perfect science due to human nature of having blood vessels in the back of their eyes that when bright light is shined into them, their pupils open and the red color is reflected and shows up as red eye...this is best fixed in a photo editing program. It is hard to totally prevent, but changing angles and not shooting directly head on at subject helps). But I digress...

If it is really distracting for you, here is the one thing I found helpful; recompose the shot slightly by moving yourself, the camera, the angle (doesn't have to be dramatically different, but try to have the sun or light source behind the camera). As you move around, continue to push the shutter halfway down (each time not continuously) to bring subject into focus (getting your green box or boxes that indicate proper focus). Sometimes the lines will disappear if you change your shot even very slightly.

Check in the user book if there is a sensitivity adjustment for the sound recording. It is possible that the sensitivity is set too high.

It is also possible that there is something defective in the camera's audio circuits. In this case the camera would have to be sent to the manufacture service rep to fix the fault.

if it records the distortion then i suspect the guides are out of adjustment or your capstand roller is pushing the tape to high on the guides. need to have a profession serviced.

This appears to be a processor problem There is I am afraid no user remedy. Depending on the age of the camera, it is possible that it has been subject to a recall because of defective CCD's- Now get onto Nikon customer support and they will advise you accordingly. They may price a repair - which will be truly astronomical if they do ,so be ready for it.
