Kohler Toilet Seat - Elongated Front Quiet Close Quick Release - Cachet by Logo
Posted on Nov 08, 2010

The paint on the forward side of the toilet seat has the paint wearing off, quickly! the paint seams soft and can be rubbed right off What would be eating away the paint. It is a fairly new seat because we recently replaced the toilet.

I have been a plumber for over 30 years. My advice is to throw that seat away
and buy a new seat made by "Bemis". They are the best I have ever seen.

Hope this helps.

Can't find the right toilet seat from standard stores

Grohe does not make toilets. look inside the tank for manufacturer and model number it sounds like a one piece toilet and the seat bolt nuts are in the tank feel around for them.Grohe only makes handles for toilets to match their faucet finishes

Seat will not stay up. It seams the tank is too far forward.

If tank was too far forward it would be leaking you need to use a Kohler seat with that toilet

One of the softclose buffers on the Subway toilet seat has pulled

Each soft close 'Barrel' is handed - one left - one right. (One is grey - the other white).

Most soft close errors occur because the seat hinges come loose. When this happen, the barrels slightly pull-out of the seat. (There are silver discs on the barrels - These should be tight against the seat).

Once the barrels become loose the first thing that happens is the top cover won't soft close - but the seat still does.

To rectify - puch both barrels tighly into fitting and tighten the hinges. (See below).

To tighen the seat hinges you need to get a flat headed screwdriver underneath the chrome round hinge cover - and 'flick off'. Underneath is a X head screw which id also hexagonal. You can either tighen both by spanner - or screw driver. (sometimes these can be tricky - but it will come off).

If both cover AND seat do not soft close AND the barrel silver discs are firmly located against the seat - the barrel has probably broken.

If so - spare parts can be obtained here:
