Merging 2 siemens gigaset 4215 systems (one base with 2 phones + 2 phones)

Gino am doing darnedest to follow manual to a T - yet cannot:
1. Get base station to assign 4 different intercoms to 4 phones (have manually deregistered and manually registered) I get 1 intercom 1 and 3 intercom 4's - have tried to manually reassign intercoms but always end up with one 1 and three 4's
2. Get base station to allow me to set up answering machine (my old base station broke down so I bought a base station and 2 phones on ebay and am trying to merge with 2 old phones I had) all phones are functional - as would the base station appear to be - I have recorded announcement (not announcement only) have verified it recorded properly yet am unable to get "check" next to answering machine - get message saying "no announce only recorded"

3. When I move sattelite/remote phones away from base station to different part of my house they seem to lose signal - my house isn't that big believe me!

Any/all help is appreciated!

Kind thanks

Mark

Love the system and wish to get it working right

If you're trying to get 5 handsets to work with one base, it won't work. The 4215 can only handle 4 handsets, the base handset plus 3.

When I had to replace the base of my 4 handset system, the base handset still worked. Therefore I had an extra handset which couldn't be used. So I decided to buy another base. Now I have 6 handsets which can be grouped 4,2 or 3,3.

Gigaset 4215

Did you check to see if the battery leaked? I had a similar experience and it was because one of the batteries had leaked. This might also explain why the keys are stuck.

Phones will not register

Try this:
Pick a handheld, press Menu - H/set settings - Reg Handset - Select Base 1, enter 0000 as password. Now on the bottom of the base station press and hold the Register button in for about 10 seconds or until the h/set beeps.

Answering machine

Unfortunately the 4010 model does not have a built in answering machine but does have features to work with your local telephone companies voice mail. If you want to keep your same phones and get a base with a built in answering machine you will need to replace your 4010 base with a 4015 base (up to three handsets), or a 4215 base (up to four handsets). But don't toss out your old base, you can use it to extend your range if you ever use a 4200 series handset that will allow you to register each handset to up to four seperate bases simultaneously to extend the range. You can buy the 4015 or 4215 base only and save yourself some money. You can google Siemens cordless repair or go to the Siemens website to find a few options.
