Remove CD Magazine - No power to unit!

I have removed my CD Changer from my car but the CD magazine is still in the unit.

Does anyone know how I can remove it without powering the CD Changer???
I connected this changer with new Bus cables to my CDX-GT710 but it will not eject the magazine or operate.

  • cmssr Jun 15, 2008

The changer is already connected to the power
source, head unit CDX-GT710 that is installed and operating in the vehicle.

I re-checked all the connections. They are intact. Is there a re-set switch on the changer also?

Looks like an issue with the BUS cables. Try a new set and see if that helps

  • Anonymous Jun 16, 2008

It could also be an issue with the power circuitry, as you say that you have not used the changer in over 2 years..I recommend calling Sony support..

  • Anonymous Jun 16, 2008

Have you tried connecting to an external power source like a car battery? If that still does not power up the charger, then it is defective and you will need to get it serviced.

If you enter your Zip in the box marked "Repair Service" at the right of this dialogue box, you will be able to find a service center in your area.

Unfortunately, there is no other fix for this, if the cables are all OK.

Hi,
You will need to power the unit to eject the cartridge you only need a 12v source, any car battery etc. Then you just do it like you always do it. It is correct that it is not operating without power.
Wish there was an easier way for you, but hooking it up to power is not to difficult.
Good luck and if you need any other info on the device let me know,
Lee

So If i gather the information correctly,
You have it hooked up to a 12v power source?
You can eject the changer right on the changer itself. You slide the panel open and hit the eject button. Only thing that is required is power.
Hope that will help you if not let me know,
    Lee

Also do you have the power connection for the changer grounded properly?

Does the CD changer unit power on at all? If it is still not working
the unit is most likely defective. for about a 100$ you can get a new
sony changer. I know this is not the solution you are looking for, but
it seems there are not any options left beyond that.

    Thanks and keep me informed,

    Lee

Where do you hook up the power to from the cd changer?

  • Lee A.
    Lee A. Jun 15, 2008

Also if it is 2 years old and hasn't been used that could be even more reason for the problems.
Let me know where the power is going to from the changer and hopefully we'll get this solved.
    Thanks,
    Lee

    Lee A. Jun 18, 2008

Hook the unit up directly to a 12v source and then test to see if it powers on.

Bose Lifestyle 30 6-cd changer magazine manual release?

hi, you can release the magazine by inserting a small flat head screwdriver in the slot and pushing the lever towards the back of the unit, this will release the cd but only if ther is not one stuck in the player as it will remain halfway between the mag and the cdplayer. don't force it to comae out. remember to obviously have the dorr to the player open before you try this.
