Bottem pulley on engine block is making noise, I think the bearings are going out. What is this pulley attached to and can it be lubricated?

The bottom pulley is the crank pulley. It is attached to the crank shaft. It has two parts, an inner and an outer that are joined together with a rubber isolator. Over time the rubber breaks down and the inner part part of the puller will start to rotate independently from the outer part of the pulley creating a unigue clacking noise.

To solve this you'll need a standard crank pulley puller set. You'll remove the crank bolt and then use the pulley puller to pull the crank pulley off of the crank shaft. The install the new pulley making sure to torque the crank pulley bolt to the proper spec.

Bad oil pump ?

Turn your A/C off, the compressor can make noise if bearings are dry or system is low on compressor oil.
Remove your serpentine belt. Turn pulleys by hand to check for roughness. Bearings in those pulleys routinely go bad.
You may get computer warnings with the following test, but with serpentine belt removed, run engine for 2 or 3 minutes. Do this on a warm engine after serpentine belt is removed. The warm oil will not mask the problem like cold thick oil can. Noise generated means problem is internal.
If this is a stick shift transmission sometimes the clutch bearing can make noise and is a sign that bearing is bad.

Loud clunking noise

yes you can have a bearing going out of a pulley,as far as you smelling oil burning you could have a valve cover leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

My ford explorer has been making a noise while driving it for about 2 months, this morning it started fine and i drove it across town, i parked it and 2 hours later i get in it and its making more noise...

You may want to stop driving it, open the hood, and check to make sure your belts are still attached.
The smell might be that your very low on power steering fluid, which would also make it extremely hard to steer.

Dealer says compressor for air cond needs to be replaced. i dont think s because when air cond is off still makes the same noise.what do you think? joe oh is a 2004 trailblazer

Get a second opinion. The ball bearings do go out in these compressors prematurely, but will only make the sound when it's on or engaged. You may have another pulley making the noise, or the tensioner, or possibly idler pulley. Could be many things, but doesn't sound like it is the compressor making the noise. Could be a failing water pump too...... Take the serpentine belt off, and turn the engine on. Do you still hear the noise? This little test will eliminate a few possible problems for you.

Idler pulley makes a whing sound when running

Its bearings are going.
Temporary fix: lubricate the bearings of the pulley with 3-in-1 oil.
Keep lubricating the bearings whenever they make noise.
Fix you'll eventually need to do: replace pulley (new bearings come with the new pulley). keep the new bearings lubricated (with bearing grease), and your idler pulley will last 100,000 miles.
